Sports Journalism

I have asked this many times, but I still feel there is more information to be found, and new voices are appreciated. My heart is set on sportswriting as a career and I want to know what universities have to offer in this career field. Any info on specific colleges with sports journalism programs would be great! Thanks

If you're looking for great journalism programs, try:

Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism
U Missouri - Columbia

^best two

also almost equally amazing are . . .

University of Southern California
Syracuse University
U Illinios - Urbana-Champaign
U Wisconsin - Madison
U North Carolina - Chapel Hill

^all top ten j-programs in the country

RYNO - google ''sports journalism college'' - quite a bit of info pops up - There seem to be quite a few programs - also post this in the Parents Forum and you may find some takers there as well. Good Luck!

sports journalism is like writin for a sports part in a newpaper?

because im also intreseted in sports and want to know similar things that come with it such as

sports pheso

Ryno26,

Have you ever thought about majoring in Sports Management and minoring in journalism? This way you could still become a sports writer but if things don't work out you have a broader skill base.

what exactly would sports management allow me to pursue? And what schools have prestigious sports management programs?

One of the BEST is UMASS/Amherst - go to their website and check it out - good info there - www.umass.edu -

What part of the country are you in or looking to go to??

Sports management does quite a few things besides just journalism. You could become a player agent, colligate athletic director, and an employee of a professional team, among many others.

Check out these sites:

Also do some research and see what kind of jobs are out there. Keep in mind that you don't have to get a degree with the label "sport" to break into the industry. A very good journalism (or business) degree will do just as well and broaden your oppurtunites.

But finally, remember that the descion is yours. Do what you feel is best...
