Sports or no sports?

well i've been on the cross country and track team (both JV) for a year now

going into my junior year, if i continue to be in them (i'm not great, so i'm not going to win anything), my UC weighted GPA will end up to be 4.15, however, if i don't take the, i'll end up with a 4.21 (and i saw a post saying that UCLA basically throws out any apps below 4.2 weighted..and i don't have any special hooks at all so i think i'm going to need the GPA boost)

does not taking CC/track junior year and then taking it senior year affect a college's decision on me?

bumppppppppppp

I don't understand how your GPA will automatically rise to 4.21 if you quit sports

You know, this is completely neglible. Do what you want... At that point, you're qualified, so you have to worry more about writing a really good essay.

Is running XC a graded activity at your school like a gym class? I am just trying to figure out how it lowers your weighted GPA, as if you were taking an unweighted gym class or elective.

I strongly encouraged my son to run XC because it is a good program, gets him outside, gets him involved with a good group of kids, is good exercise, promotes good exercise habits (ie running) that can be continued for many years, and prevents him from coming home after school and playing video games. Checking off an EC box on a college application was a very minor afterthought.

lastchancexi- a 4.15 GPA isn't that good when you look at all the B's i've gotten (i took 2AP's soph, planning to take 4/5AP's soph)

oh, and because cross country is a regular class, so it's only weighted 4 points to UC's instead of 5

now this brings up another point - since UC's a-g list doesn't include sports, would it affect my GPA?

Wow, you just realized that it isn't on the coarselist now? Wow. Of course it won't count.

i always knew it wasn't on it, i just didn't know if UC's counted it or not
