Do colleges want more academic based extracurriculars, or it doesn't matter? I'm doing three sports (all varsity) so I don't have time for any other extracurriculars. I am planning to do volunteering and hopefully get 100 hours by junior year. Is this good enough for a school like UVA or VT? Thanks.

I think it depends on your level of dedication and how good you are. Being a three sport athlete, you must have some sort of athletic gift. If that’s the path you choose, then you should correlate it with success in what you do. My motto is just to do what you want, but excel in it. So if that’s what you’re doing, make the most of it.
