I was wondering how Cornell/Ivy Leagues recruit athletes. I am a very good baseball player and won awards such as MVP, three first place championships, and two undefeated titles. These awards occurred in middle school. I sustained an injury during middle school and did not play on any sports teams during high school.
A few days ago, I was playing baseball, with some kids on the high school teams, and realized I am still talented at baseball. Since I did not play high school sports, how does Cornell recruit athletes. I have straight A's, 8 AP classes, 12 Honors Classes, tons of extra-curriculars, and a mediocre ACT of 29(I did bad on the English and Reading.). I know I am very capable of playing baseball with a .864 batting average when I played in middle school.

since you don’t have any high school stats to show them, I’d say your best bet would be to go to one of their baseball camps and try your best to stand out!

they would probably want to see some high school experience on the baseball team, since thats where they look for athletes…

a few thoughts … I seriously doubt they will recruit someone who has not played competatively for 4 years … I would contact the coach to see if they allow walk-ons to tryout (I would guess they do) … I would find a league in which to play this summer.

Bro. Let’s be real here. " …a .864 batting average when I was in middle school…"

Guys on the baseball team now have 75+ lbs on you than back in your middle school days. I’m not saying it’s totally impossible, but you haven’t been in a competitive arena in years. Any amount of natural talent can only get you so far…

Realistically without any showcase of High School talent it would probably be unlikely. Best bet would be to apply to the school and try to make it as a walk-on (the team accepts a few players this way).

But it is a division one program and while it’s not as prominent as some of the bigger state schools, a number of ivy league players get drafted by MLB teams each year so it’s a very competitive league.
