spring 2008 admittance

my guess? most likely. just be sure to turn in the FAFSA, CSS, and TAX FORMS on time.

I don't know about this fall, but in the past I believe spring admits could buy the spirit activities card so they could go to football games that fall. Since they have changed it to guaranteed seating, I don't know that's the case anymore, but if you're going to be around in LA this fall it's a great way for spring admits to start becoming part of the campus community.

there is no more spirit activities card. games are free for all undergraduates-except football. a season pass for football games now is 135 dollars. buy them early.

I always liked the terms last year's spring admits used.......they called themselves "Springlets"

For all you springlets.....you will not feel left out! I remember my D telling me the springlets arrived 2nd semester and everyone in the building made them feel very welcome and a part of their class. They stayed up all evening and had a great time!

I got spring too - will be visiting USC in a few days :)

It sounds like the only major downside to spring admittance is the housing situation.

i'm a bit frustrated about being accepted to usc for spring 2008, though I got into my first choice (ucla) and was accepted to berkeley too.
stats:

SAT:2090
SATIIs: 710 (math2), 720 (bio)
Weighted GPA: 4.23
+ I am legacy

i guess this whole thing will just make me even more anti-trojan haha

I decided I will take the offer.
I don't wanna miss out on the "college experience" and attend UCSD.
WOOT!

btw, does anyone know how housing works?
damn.. i don't want to commute.

that's cool, papercuts..
what are you thinking of doing in the fall?

keep us posted and best of luck!

for USC spring admits:
you apply for housing by july 1st. they let you know by december where you will be placed. most likely you will be placed in an off campus apartment like troy hall, cardinal gardens, etc etc.
for those who have questions about orientation, housing, etc etc in relation to spring admits, feel free to ask me any questions.

For me, getting spring 08 is better than not getting in. I'd embrace it and actually attend.

yeah, i totally agree with miss blue sky.... I think getting into USC in itself is a privilege, whether it be now or even next year :) Id be happy with anything hehe.

yeah me too, i was expecting a rejection

but hey this works

so it comes down to USC (spring admit) or UCI for me :D

I got in as a Spring admit. I saw the envelope in the letter and I was ecstatic. So was my mom, until she saw that it was for Spring '08. She feels very bitter towards it but I was very excited to know that I'll have a semester for myself to take a break from school and find something to do. Well, I've received all the decisions from colleges as of today and I'm leaning towards USC and UCSD. a few schools are in the back of my head too, but I'm pleased with my USC spring acceptance. I just have to wait to receive my financial aid package offer...

just wondering, but what is the point of a university admitting fall applicants to the spring semester? like why do they do it... why not just fall

I've heard at other schools that they have a bit more space in the spring in both classes and dorms because more kids study abroad in the spring.

also some students graduate mid-year, leaving an opening

it allows them to admit kids that they want, even though they are full for fall

ah, i see...

Well, actually, I have heard that spring admittance allows them to not factor in statistics into their Fall year reports that go to collegeboard, US News, etc. Essentially, your stats won't count if you are accepted into the spring semester; not to say, however, that you should be any less qualified. It provides more of an opportunity for them to overlook numbers and see the quality of the applicant. Does that make sense to anyone?

well, spring admits could post their stats here and we could see if there is any difference

but as we all know, it isn't all about stats

also wondering if it has anything to do with need for finaid..ie they want the student but want to discourage them a little becaus ethey are high need?
