I know it's really early to think about this, but Spring 2010 course listings are now online at www.testudo.umd.edu/scheduleofclasses. It's not complete yet, but you can start looking.

Wow, that’s amazing. I’m always surprised at how early in the previous semester that registration starts for the NEXT semester! For the new Terps… registration dates are assigned in seniority order (# credits, which includes UMD earned credits, as well as transfer and/or AP credits). This is another time when your kid will appreciate those AP courses. It made a big difference with D1’s dates. After her first semester, the classes she wanted to take were always open (not always convenient, nor not always arranged so that there wasn’t overlap in the classes), but she didn’t have to worry about closed classes or waitlists.

btw, your link didn’t work. Try:
http://www.testudo.umd.edu/ScheduleOfClasses.html

Hmm, that’s interesting that it’s case-sensitive.

Yeah AP Credits really help–I’ve only once had a class fill up on me. But then I got in off of the waitlist before the semester started.

(maybe it was the .html at the end???)

Out of summer registration/orientation D2 was #6 on a waitlist for Span 301. She slowly but steadily climbed up the list. When school started, she was #3; she attended the class and was added as a student (override from the dept on the 2nd day of classes), but she would also have easily cleared the waitlist…so, people shouldn’t be too bummed if they DO have to waitlist a class. It depends on the class, of course, but it’s not a lost cause.
