Spring 2010 Schedule

So I'm wondering when freshmen have to schedule their classes again for the spring semester? And when does the spring semester's course schedule come up online? Also, is it difficult to convince the dean to allow me to take more than 17 credits, especially if this is practically necessary in my case (my classes are intro and continue on to the following semester, with the mandatory addition of lab classes...that puts me a tad over 17 credits)?

Last year, I think it was around November 1 to November 7 that people registered for spring classes, and that the classes were posted a couple of weeks before that.

It is not that hard to get approved for more than 17 hours. If you have decent grades you’ll be approved. The problem for you is that they will not approve it until after you have a semester of grades at UT. This means that when you are registering during the end of this semester, you will not be allowed to register for more than 17 until your grades are posted. At least that is the way it was done last fall when I tried it.

So will I be able to register late for that final course when my grades are posted? Or would I have to add the class at the start of the following semester, which I’m guessing would be way more difficult to do? I really can’t go without taking the lab classes or the second part of intro courses! :O

I don’t know on that. I got around the system by just signing up for a class at ACC. The red tape on things like this can be very frustrating.

Advising is: October 22-23, 26-28.

This year registration is October 26 - November 6. But freshmen register last unless you are in a special program so I don’t know which day you guys get.

(I got those dates from the registrar calender)

I don’t really see how you would NEED 18 credits second semester freshman year, though…

All the classes I am taking now are part one intro classes…which means I have to take the second part next semester, or risk FORGETTING all of that information! For example, I can’t not take the second half of calculus next semester. That would, honest to God, just be ridiculous of them to insist. In addition to all of those classes, I will need to take an additional lab that was not required last semester. This lab is required for the second half of the lecture class I’ll have to take. So in other words, yes, I really need to take that many credit hours. I’m afraid I can’t take it at ACC either, because it’s a med school pre-req lab class…:frowning: Should I contact my advisor now and see what they can do?

Thanks for the times, comiclover.

Man, that sucks. That is very hardcore, I must admit. xD

I would email them now so they can tell you exactly when you can register and when you can have more than 17 credits. They will most likely want to set up a meeting before advising time. Or rather you should try to get in a meeting with them so you can talk about your specific problem.

Ok, I’ll schedule an appointment with my advisor, then! I was just hoping someone had experience with this previously and could point me in the right direction, but thanks anyway. ;P
