I was accepted into the college of engineering...but for the SPRING of 2010 (400 kids were brought into spring)! Did anybody else get in for the spring? It is driving me insane, because first off its spring, and secondly, the financial aid package was pretty bad...I got a 4000 grant, 1250 workstudy, 488 pell grant and about 3000 in loans. How the heck am i supposed to afford the school with that?

My question is, does spring work kind of like a "waitlist", meaning if lets say out of the 2800 fall acceptances, lets assume 400 decide they don't want to enroll. Then, do the spring kids get brought back to the fall? Also, would they then recalculate financial aid like maybe give more scholarships/grants because they all go to the fall kids anyway?

I'm not sure if anyone can answer these, but this school was my number one choice, and i have no idea how to afford it. I was thinking that if i do well the first year, then the following year i could get more aid and scholarships and such, but my guidance counselor said "No, all the scholarships go to freshman."

jc2009, based on recent history they have to assume only about 25% of those admitted for the fall will actually enroll, so they must admit over 10,000. They also have a wait list. Anyone on the wait list would get first chance for any extra fall places. Being admitted for the spring, you’re a lot better off than on the wait list. I imagine you could take courses in the fall semester at a cheaper school (comm. coll?) and get credits that would transfer, so you wouldn’t be that far behind. You’d want to check on that in advance though. I hear you on the financial aid. My son didn’t get enough either.

Are you sure that is the cost AFTER you add in your financial aid. I don’t think it is, because overall Northeastern costs about 50k, so it should be 25k for fall and 25k for spring. So you should subtract 10k from the ~25k. Right?

A lot more than 2800 students are admitted. However they accept more than 2800 (knowing that many are going to choose elsewhere) and then take people off of the waitlist until they reach 2800.

yeah same situation. i’m pretty sure once we are admitted spring2010–you stay for the spring semester.

so basically i am most likely not going to northeastern bc it would probably stink coming into the year after everyone already is situated and everything (where would we dorm anyways?) plus there is no way i can afford ~25k. soooo giving neu the peace.
