Spring 2011 admissions cycle

Congratulations Giuli! That’s great news!

Congratulations Giuli!

That’s the great news!

I’m INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Congratulations Boola!!! That’s awesome!

Most sincere congrats to all of you guys. I am so very jealous. I didn’t even know about GS until a few weeks ago. So I scrounged up what I could and got everything in by the Nov. 1st deadline. (I mean very last minute) I’m fairly certain that many of my transcripts arrived late. I’m not sure what I should be thinking right now. But I told myself this weekend that if I didn’t hear anything by this Tuesday, I’m going to resign all hope. GS just seemed like a great place for a veteran, so I tried. What do you all think?

Again, congratulations to all you guys, seems like everyone got in. Awesome.

I would like to raise my proverbial glass to everyone here and offer you my sincere congratulations. This is sure to be the start of an incredible experience for all of us and I’m thrilled to share the honors with what is appearing to be an impressive group of people with significant achievements and powerful life stories.

Here’s to you!
Boola, GTW, Giuli, Rcave

Maxman… any word yet?

Tardy, you never know. I get the feeling that GS is somewhat flexible in regard to time lines. And if it becomes an issue of missed deadlines, perhaps you can prepare to apply for Fall (?) But best of luck to you, regardless.

Thanks for your kind words MC. I was wondering, did everyone here apply by the Early Action deadline? Anyone else submit close to the deadline? Thanks.

Cheers, all: MC, Giuli, GTW, RCave…and all the lurkers who’ve gotten in. I, for one, am very glad to be over this part of the process.

Congrats to everyone. It’s pretty spectacular. And two of us from SMC. :)

Congratulations Boola, officially!

My sincere congratulations to all of you on your acceptances to GS. I AM STILL WAITING! I had to take the SAT and my scores weren’t sent to Columbia until October 29th. I had everything else in by early October. I truly hope I will hear soon. If I get in, you all will be the first to know! But if I don’t get in, I really do wish you all the best.

Thanks, all. Sent off the acceptance and check this morning. No point in my waiting for FedEx if the form is online. I may be a little excited.

MaxMan and T4P–I don’t even know what to tell you except we all know how much the waiting sucks…hang in there. Hope you hear good news soon.

B2

Thanks for your support, B.B. Any chance anyone has a feel for how many applicants
GS gets for the Spring semester?

B2: Good idea sending in your reply–no need to wait for the FedEx. You can also go to [Academic Planning Sessions | General Studies](http://www.gs.columbia.edu/aps) and register for an Academic Planning Session (you just need your CUID) as that’s the next step. Then you’ll also be instructed to register for the January Orientation event.

In fact, if you go to [Newly Admitted Students | General Studies](Newly Admitted Students | School of General Studies) you’ll see essentially the same “what to do next” info that you’ll be receiving in the FedEx packet.

T4P: I think, based on earlier comments, that most here did meet the ED deadline. I did not make ED but still had everything in a couple weeks ahead of the regular 11/1 deadline.

I sent in my application well before the EA deadline but was unable to take the GSAE until Oct. 17. I received my notice of acceptance Nov. 12.

Thanks for that information, MC. Very helpful. I guess I’ll have to fly to NYC this month and get on one of those academic planning sessions early so I don’t end up getting last pick of classes.

MC, GTW, BB… thanks for the info. Max, hang in there, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Well, I shall keep you all posted, but just have a bad feeling…

You can probably estimate how many applicants are accepted by looking at these statistics. www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract/enrollment%20headcount%20by%20school%20all.htm

Thank you, ComaPrison for those stats - very interesting. And thanks for describing your timeline, goestowashington. Given how late my SAT scores arrived, I’m sure my application is pretty far down in the pile. T4P, I think your timing will be fine for this semeste. I only hope you and I do as well as everyone else in this group!

Hey guys. First off, congrats to everyone who got in! I’m planning on applying for ED Fall 2011. I’m almost done with my application and am trying to feel out what a successful essay looks like. Would anyone be willing to message me a copy of your essay? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance and congrats again!
