Has everyone who auditioned at Unifieds heard already?

Nope! Some people who we have accepted have been called, but then our main faculty member who handles admissions became ill, and so he has not completed the calls. I don’t even think they were in any particular order, but I know he only got 1/3 of the way through them before he had to stop. He should finish calling Monday or Tuesday. Shortly after that, people in the “pool” should be notified via email. Then the no letters will go out shortly after that. Don’t fret! :)

No problem, thank you very much. Is the faculty member Guy? I hope he gets well soon, such a great person.

It is, indeed! He was at our on-campus auditions this morning so he’s doing a bit better, but he didn’t stay for the afternoon workshops so he could go home and sleep. That should tell you, as he’s always around. ;)

Hey did anyone hear from the march 3rd audition i know its pretty early but you never know???

The faculty just met to talk about March 3rd audition candidates today- nothing has been sent out regarding the status of anyone from Saturday.
They are making decisions quickly this year, but I’d still say people won’t hear for another week or so.

Sounds like from the MT acceptance page Coastal may have started making calls. Is that right?

Yes, the calls are slowly being made. I don’t think anyone from March has been called yet. I am currently sending out official letters of all kinds to the January/February audition candidates- yes, no, and the good ole’ pool.

In all honesty- some things are going to slow down a little bit because our spring break starts this weekend. I am hoping to get everything sent out, but that might not happen.

What is the “pool”?

NMR: The “pool” is essentially a deferral. You have not been rejected nor accepted yet. You are still in the pool being considered.

Oh, gotcha. But doesn’t CCU have to tell all candidates if they are accepted or rejected by April 1?

We do and we will! The faculty are hoping to have heard back from some people before then so they can make more offers out of the pool if need by. When April 1st is about to roll around, I think the faculty will just have to make a judgement call on whether or not to pull from “the pool”. At that point, they may release or accept some candidates then, but I think, most likely, the pool will turn into a waitlist of sorts.

So none of the march students have been told yet? Will they before the school breaks and also how many students were accepted.

As of last night, all of the offer calls have been made/emails have been sent out. The no letters and the pool letters will go out today. I am glad most of this done before we broke for spring break- much earlier than expected, too!

You rock, AlexaMT!!!

Enjoy your break :)

Alexa, I just LOVE that you remember what it was like going through this process and that you work so hard to keep people informed! I agree with do-what-u-luv. YOU ROCK!

Thanks y’all! Just doing my job. Literally.

This is a recent email I was CC’ed on from faculty member/recruitment star Guy Molnar to a pool student. I think it explains much better than I attempted to how the system is working this year:

Right now you are in what we call our “pool” - a very small group to whom we aren’t yet able to make an offer but whom we are seriously considering. We will meet again as a faculty when we return (from Spring Break) a week from today and hope to be able to give you a definitive answer within a few days of that. Of course we understand that you have to start making decisions and are trying to be respectful of that, just as we are trying our best to build the right ensemble that will serve all of the students who eventually enter our training program.

So I was wrong about the waitlist scenario. Everyone should know everything (well, at least what WE know) by April 1st.
Or by mid-next week supposedly!

Friends,
AlexaMT, while very well informed, only knows what we have told her. Sometimes we don’t let on our intentions and plans. Mostly out of ignorance on our parts rather than a desire to keep her out of the loop.

Our process, like our on campus auditions, is really involved. We meet as a faculty and discuss every candidate. Some we know aren’t right for the program, some we all agree on readily (although both scenarios are rare). Most involve some discussion. We narrow the group down to a large pool. We then place candidates into groups and try to rank those within the groups. Once we have some consensus, we begin to make offers.

Our offers come in small waves. I’d love to explain why, but it is even more complicated and I’m not sure I can be really very clear. We have now sent out all of the letters for students whom we believe would be better served in another training program. We have also sent the majority of answers for candidates still in the pool and have sent some invitations.

We will complete the process and develop a full invitation list and a full waitlist within the next couple of weeks. Certainly by the time we leave for the NYC showcase on April 1. Hopefully sooner. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact me by emailing me at coastal.edu

Thanks,
kjgc

So please correct me if im wrong but if you were accepted into the program you were given a call and if you are in the pool you were sent a letter? Are all the accepted/pool people aware already who they are or will there be some more notifications going out after the break after facult meets again? Im sorry im just conused. Bascially my question is if you havent recieved an call or an email for pool the your not offered acceptance?

I have to say that the transparency and forthright attitude of Coastal Carolina’s faculty and staff is wonderful. I wish this school had been on our radar a year ago.
