<p>Do you guys know what you're going to take next semester? My school just put out the class list for next semester today, so naturally I looked at it and tried to figure out what I want to take.</p>
<p>I'm planning on taking:</p>
<p>ENG - Major Authors: Orwell
PSY - Childhood Disorders
PSY - The Psychology of Disabilities
ANT - World Cultures</p>
<p>I have to take a course on a major author as part of my school's core curriculum, and Orwell is by far the best author on the list (the only other decent author is Shakespeare), and, the professor is awesome...I had him for my sophomore ENG class and I loved him!</p>
<p>I'm a psych major which explains the psych classes...and I want to work with children, probably as an occupational therapist, so childhood disorders and the psych of disabilities will most likely be a good knowledge base for what I want to do for my career.</p>
<p>And the anthropology class...well, it'll either count as a social science (depending on whether or not I get credit for the education class I took last fall at my local community college), or as a free elective, and I need both of those...plus I like learning about other cultures, and it's a 100-level class so it should be pretty easy.</p>
<p>If I get everything I want, my schedule will be:</p>
<p>Pretty awesome if you ask me since I'll only have 1 class on Friday. I wanted to have no classes on Friday, but unless I added another TTH class that wouldn't be an option, and I definitely don't want another TTH class!!</p>
<p>We are on the quarter system, so I don’t know my spring classes yet. My planned “winter” classes are as follows:</p>
<p>MAT 381 - Mathematics of Operations Research II : Not excited. Professor isn’t as smart as I thought she was and not as great as people told me she was as a lecturer. “She is the best!” There are plenty of people in my 380 class that are idiots that ask stupid questions and it wastes class time. I am probably going to see them again.
MAT 431 - Partial Differential Equations: Slightly intrigued. I have heard that this was a hard class. I wonder how it’ll be, but I am not looking forward to it that much.
STA 341- Applied Statistics: Not excited in the least. It’ll be with the same professor I have for STA 241 - Applied Probability Theory. Somehow I find probability boring but interesting at the same time. The material is okay, the teacher puts people to sleep. I keep thinking about the applications of it to quantum mechanics.
PLS 201 - Introduction to American Government: Pretty excited. I love critical thinking and like when a teacher encourages active discussion and presents interesting topics. </p>
<p>I don’t sound like I’m having a good time in my major (applied math) mostly because I realized I am in the wrong major. I want to be a physics major, but I must graduate in two years if at all possible. I am trying to complete a physics minor along the way. My passion is for astronomy/astrophysics. They put their courses in a sequence, so I’d have to wait another year to be able to take the classes I need to finish a physics major. So, that’s a bummer.</p>
<p>I really hope I can get into the last class Samuel Pickering is teaching next semester. He was the person who inspired the John Keating character in Dead Poets Society. He’s retiring soon and there are only 19 spots in his class so I’m hoping it’s possible.</p>

<p>It’s my last semester of undergrad and I’m determined to have my first two day “weekend” (Fridays and Saturdays off) in my undergrad career. That’s why my schedule is so scant.</p>

<p>13 credit hours. I should squeeze in another class for my major (biology) but I’ve learned my lesson with taking too many classes and working this semester. Stupid labs</p>
<p>romanigypsyeyes - Ohh…ha. Sometimes I can’t read. Four is totally acceptable. That’s what I’m doing as well until I graduate. If I took 6 a semester I would graduate next December instead of next May, but I would rather take less classes and longer to graduate so I actually get decent grades.</p>

<p>I’m sad I won’t be taking any psychology courses (I’m a music major psych minor), but the only ones available cut into choir, and I’d rather not have to fill out forms to deal with that.</p>
<p>I’m literally so excited for the Spring 2013 courses to go up on the website on Monday. I LOVE choosing classes. Definitely one of the best differences between high school and college. </p>
<p>^That religion and contemporary global lit one sounds really interesting. I’m considering a minor in religious studies but we don’t have many classes like that one.</p>

<p>I really hope that I’m allowed to take the Psych of Disabilities class…on the sheet I have that has all the course requirements it says that you need to be a senior to take that class, and I’m only a junior by credits (senior by entry date though)…I’ve never seen it offered before, so I have no confidence that it’ll be offered again before I graduate…and it sounds super interesting and will probably be useful in my career!!</p>
<p>That religion class is something I’m taking to fulfill honors college requirements for scholar distinction. We have to take two honors seminars of our choosing, and this looked really cool. Plus I’ve had the professor teaching it before for a class called “The Devil and The Problem of Evil”, and he’s a great teacher.</p>

<p>Clarinette, so jealous of your screenwriting class! I wish they still offered that class here at my school. The last time it was offered was in 2005. :(</p>
