Spring 2013 Transfer Thread

I know this isn't a large group, but is anyone else applying for Spring 2013 transfer admission? I'm applying to the College Human Ecology for Policy Analysis & Management.

Im thinking of applying to CAS Economics but i know its highly competitive! having 2nd thoughts :(

I really don’t know how competitive CHE is because I don’t know how many of the admitted transfer students are guaranteed transfers.

Do you know what the differences between CAS Economics and CALS Applied Economics and Management are? Im thinking about transferring there too! I’m just not really sure which one I will apply to.

Applied Economics and Management is akin to a business degree. CAS Economics is an economics degree. I will be applying for Spring 2013 transfer to the School of ILR. Anyone want to start posting stats?

Applying from: Emory University (Oxford College)

I’m concerned about my GPA and my math SAT score. And I actually have no idea what my HS GPA/Rank was because I never received a final transcript, but it wasn’t amazing.

Human Ecology also asks “Please tell us how you approached a challenging circumstance and what resources you employed to deal with that issue.” I have a learning disability and lots of life issues, but I don’t know that I really want to talk about them. =/

Applying from: UC San Diego
Applying to: School of Industrial and Labor Relations

Right now I’m worried about my college official report and letters of recommendation. I asked for them before I left for summer break, and they agreed to write them. But, school doesn’t start for us until late September, so I hope they turn them in on time. I’m also worried about turning in my midterm grade report early enough for them to review it. Our first midterms won’t be administered until late october/early november.

CHE doesn’t look at sat or act. If you aren’t confident in your scores then don’t send it.

Applying from: University of Florida
Applying to: School of Industrial and Labor Relations- 2nd semester sophomore
Major: ILR
Prerequisites Satisfied: Yes (i believe so)
GPA: 3.84 after freshman year
EC’s: Paid summer Internship in Chartering and trading departments at International Fertilizer distribution company in Zurich, Switzerland. Director of Law Schools Admissions committee for my pre-law fraternity. Part of winning attorney team for competitive mock trial charity tournament. Delta Chi fraternity (founded at Cornell, but doesn’t mean much. debating excluding that fact since it isn’t academic). Part of Student finance club. Intramural soccer.

LoRs: Solid recommendation from microeconomics and Intro to IR professors

Watching as the application requirements slowly get checked off online.

I sent all the forms in by mail which they received last Thursday the 27th.
Still on my app status there is an x.

I realize it takes time to process but will they count it even though I won’t get a check until after the deadline?

Also I sent my financial aid forms in which arrived Friday but no one was there to sign for it so they left a notice at the door. Will they get it redelivered? And will it count even though it will be collected on/after the deadline?

I have a check beside everything except my final high school transcript and the midterm report. It’s been funny though–they said they received the common application more than a week before they received the common application supplement and application fee.

The note says that if you’re missing material that they’ll send you an e-mail mid-October and give you an opportunity to submit it.

Aigiqinf,

The same thing occurred with my supplement and common application as well. I think it has to do with the way they process your application. I called this week (before they had checked it off), and they said to wait till mid-October to start worrying about missing documents.

Luckily, I just got everything checked off except the midterm report, so I’m pretty happy that I no longer need to worry.

Thefuture101, the application checklist takes an obscenely long time to update. Even with the relatively few number of spring transfers, it still took two weeks to completely fill mine in. To provide some color, I sent all of my material in on 9/14, and my first letter of rec was sent before this date. They just checked off my instructor evaluation box yesterday, completing all my requirements except the midterm report. Long story short, do not stress. If you mailed it in, it is now out of your control. You will do more harm to yourself than good by running yourself through paces about an application. If you sent it before the deadline, then you’ve done all they ask.

That’s good to know.

But what about the financial aid dilemma? Are they going to ask for it to be redelivered?

USPS typically attempts to redeliver packages a few times (used to ship things with confirmations when I was an airsoft gun tech), so if they didn’t get it this time, chances are good they’ll get it tomorrow. Plus, as long as it’s postmarked before the deadline, then you have turned it in on time. If I were you, I would make a call to the financial aid office to ask them if they will receive it late.

Thanks Tung, I will definitely call tomorrow.

when are you guys submitting your midterm reports? and how are your grades looking?
anyone applying to ILR- do you guys know anything about the interview?

Anyone know if Cornell accepts Spring Transfers for Chemical Engineering? Thanks!

Engineers are rarely ever accepted because of the specificity of the program, but either way its past the deadline (Oct 1). So…if you submitted your application, you probably know that they are accepted for spring. And if you didn’t…then I’d wait until the Fall Transfer period because you missed the deadline =/

I was thinking of applying for next spring (2014)!
Any tips for actually getting in? I have 3.9 College GPA and a 4.1 High School GPA. SATs and ACTs not very impressive but it’s been a while (4 years) so maybe I’ll retake them.
