<p>Aside form the obvious like the outstanding faculty, facilities, and reputation… Cornell’s unwavering commitment to accessibility, financial and social, is very pertinent to me. As a community college student and son of a kindergarten teacher and firefighter in Texas, I am hardly the textbook Ivy League applicant. I also really appreciate Cornell’s implacable chase of achieving Ezra Cornell’s vision of founding “a school were any student can find instruction in any study” two centuries after he said it. </p>
<p>Also, Cornell’s remarkable breath of course offerings means that while I won’t be able to take every course across Cornell’s enormous range, I will have the opportunity to be exposed to individuals who are pursuing a variety of interests. A major part of college is adopting new perspectives, and I think Cornell is a great place to do this. </p>
<p>More specifically regarding A&S (where I applied)… Class sizes are great; 50 percent of courses have 10 students or fewer enrolled, and 70 percent have 20 or fewer.</p>
<p>I agree, very well said. I decided to apply to Cornell because i’m lookinf for a more intellectually and socially stimulating experience out of my college years. I feel that Cornell’s commitment to academic and scholarly pursuit (rather than just people going to college for jobs) diversity, and breadth of study really contributes to a well-roundedness that is very attractive to me and not common at many schools. Not to mention, i love the vastness and natural beauty of the outdoors (i like to run and to do outdoorsy things), which also offer great opportunities to explore your surroundings as well as yourself. Regarding my intended field of study, Cornell is much more specialized and has a more established program for Biological Engineering than the current school i am in, and it also prepares you well for graduate work, which is where i intend to go after undergrad as Cornell is ranked fourth in the world or something like that (according to Wikipedia) in putting kids into PhD engineering programs. Lastly, as stated before, the most attractive part of Cornell is their “any student, any study” philosophy that just encourages acceptance, accessibility, and intellectual and social growth.</p>
<p>Right now, however, even if i got in, i’m not sure that i would go anymore. I’ve come across a lot of great opportunities here at Lehigh as well as really finding my niche, which would make it difficult for me to decide to leave. Transferring is tricky business. Although, if i don’t end up going through with Cornell now, i would like to end up at Cornell at some point, maybe for graduate stuff or to even work there someday, who knows!</p>
<p>Can anyone log into the housing portal? After reading several previous threads that is usually a good indicator of acceptance, however not being able to log in isn’t a denial of admissions either.</p>
<p>I don’t know about you all, but the notification process is the most stressful thing about applying to transfer. There’s not a date you can check an online site–heck, there’s not even a rough estimate of when letters will be mailed. As a result, there’s a constant push to stop by the mail center and check each day. If I’ve been rejected, it’s a form of closure I need to know. If I’m accepted, there are a number of steps (e.g., canceling housing) I’d need to put into motion. And with the variation by college/major/person, you can’t relying on the crowdsourcing effect of CC. Just because someone else got a letter doesn’t mean yours is on its way and just because they didn’t doesn’t mean your letter hasn’t arrived.</p>
<p>Last year seemed to suggest that those who could log in had a high chance of having been accepted (though there were some exceptions). Of course, decisions are made at different times, so even if being able to log in means 100% that you were accepted, not being able to log in doesn’t mean you won’t be.</p>
<p>I am unable to log in to housing as well. From what I’ve seen from the past threads, some people cant even log in to housing until a day or two AFTER receiving their acceptance letter. Also, there have been individuals on several past threads that were able to log in to housing but were rejected, so be careful getting your hopes up just because you can log in.</p>
<p>Seems like everyone except one guy who was able to log in got accepted. Lots of people who could not log in were still accepted. So from what I gather…</p>

<p>I also received an e-mail from financial aid to submit an extra form or something. I don’t know if that means they’re processing my financial aid stuff right now or not. We’ll see in the end, but I’ll be optimistic for now…</p>
