So Im new to this but I have a question I currently am taking a math class at my community college and I applied already for FSU and I spoke with an advisor and they are going to hold my application till i finish my math class but the only thing they said its going to be really close so Im not worried about getting in im worried about where im going to live has anyone been in this situation? I want to live in a door but im not sure if its possible im just worried I wont have anywhere to live if anyone can help please also is there anything im missing that i need to have completed once im accepted.

Dorm* can you get a dorm last minute does anyone know?

FSU stops accepting Spring housing applications when they are full. Last year, that was around Halloween, the year before it was around Thanksgiving.

So if you aren’t going to be admitted to FSU until after the Fall semester ends at your community college, you’re pretty much out of luck on the on-campus housing front.

[Spring 2013 Undergraduate Housing Application / Future Residents / University Housing / FSU - University Housing](http://housing.fsu.edu/Future-Residents/Spring-2013-Undergraduate-Housing-Application)

Alright so if this is the case and there are no more dorms can anyone recommend a good apartment complex to live in?

I’m in the same situation where my application is on hold till my final math courses are complete. I will be getting a town home at this point.

Yea I need to figure something out ^^^ are you for sure getting accepted?

For apartments I recommend Arbor Properties or Aspen Properties.
Avoid living on campus if you can. It’s a total waste of money living on campus. Huge regret on so many levels from living on campus.

And to counter papertiger, I have no regrets from living on campus. I love it. However, everyone’s situation will be different.

For anyone though that at this point hasn’t finalized whether they are attending FSU in the Spring or not, you won’t be getting on campus housing, so start looking around Tallahassee. I know people that live pretty much everywhere around Tallahassee. Friends in Campus Park love it, particularly, although they all complain that the speed bumps in the place seem like they are going to rip apart their car’s suspension… Heritage Grove is a good place to look at if you don’t have a car and will have to rely on FSU’s bus transportation.

A good place to start looking though is FSU’s Off Campus Housing look-up: [Florida State University | Off Campus Housing Search](<a href=“FSU Off-Campus Housing Marketplace”>http://offcampushousing.fsu.edu/)
It’s not perfect, but it will give you an idea of what’s open.

Hey so did they ever finalize your admissions status
they still have not done it for me, and I passed my math class they were waiting on-_-

at this point I think I’m going to another school because classes began January 7, pretty sure I wont have time to find housing, get all my info, in pick classes by that time right…?

Finding housing is easy. I found a place within two days, and signed, inspected and all that. What info do you need? Health forms? can be faxed and done all on the same day. Transcripts? You can get a rush on transcripts, as long as they are on the way they don’t care. You can start looking at courses available right now, as registration will be available once again in January. Plus people will be dropping from courses during the first week.
If you make it all difficult for yourself, it will be difficult. If you take it a step at a time it’s a breeze. If you really want to be at FSU you can make it happen.

Okay thanks for giving me hope I really want to go to FSU its just a little frustrating thinking about all that I have to go through in such a short period of time especially since they have not made any admission decision yet! is it really possible for a a school to accept you just like 2 or 3 days before classes begin? anyway I have been looking at housing just in case and so far I really like polo club but since I live near Miami and I’m not familiar with the housing in Tally I have no Idea what it actually looks like in person do you know anything about Polo Club or know of any place thats not too expensive, safe and just easy to settle in fast, and about registration how do I know what classes to take my major International Affairs…

^^^
Suggestion-
If you haven’t received an answer for your spring 2013 term, I’d seriously call hourly and or visit admissions as FSU is currently a ghost town as most administrators are not even scheduled to return until Thursday January 3rd which only leaves you two business days to obtain an answer. Also, as long as you have the money, there is alot of nice private housing off campus, don’t worry.

I don’t know much about Polo Club, but I prefer and recommend any apartment that isn’t too close to the Uni because it would be quieter and you’re more likely to not being hearing parties at odd hours. (any apts run by Arbor Prop. or Aspen Prop. are good places to start.)
I live around 10 minutes away from main campus and it’s quiet and safe. I hear a lot of complaints from students who live much closer to campus because of the noise and safety.
like poster #12 stated I would call as soon as the school is back from Break b/c you honestly should have already received a response by now for Spring.
There is an Academic Map for your major on FSU’s site, and if you’re accepted I would schedule an appt w/ your advisor asap.

Yea I think I should have received a response for spring by now too thats why I was just going to go to another school I assumed that they dint want me all it says on my admissions status is" your application has been referred to the appropriate academic representative" it has said that since november I thought it was because they were waiting on my final math class but I sent my final transcript decem.19 and still thats all it says I’m afraid when I finally do call they will say that either its going to take a while longer to look over my transcript or I dint get in. My other school they only allow you to choose your classes and speak with an advisor the 2nd jan. and thats when FSU opens again. Do you think chances are I dint get in thats why they are prolonging it I have a 3.8 with A.A degree,or maybe they just forgot about me with so many applicants I wish they would just tell me already

If you sent your transcripts on December 19, that gives them only two days to have gotten to FSU, get entered, and reviewed, before FSU closed down for break.

If they were sent via the mail (I’m not sure how your school would have done it), that means that at best FSU got them on the 21st.

FSU has been closed down for break for a week now. They would have only had a few working hours at best to input your transcripts, send your application off to your department, and get a final verdict on whether to accept you or not.

Call the university when they open on January 2nd (early in the morning) and ask someone. If your other school only lets you talk to someone on January 2nd and pick your classes on that day, you should still have time after talking to FSU to go do so, should you end up not getting in to FSU.

Thanks for your input I will do that and hopefully when I call a decision has already been made.

If anyone is still looking for housing, my daughter has an apartment for rent. It will be move in ready this week. We are very motivated (rent reductions, etc.) to get it rented out to a nice girl as the other roommates are her sorority sisters. Send me a private message if you are or you know someone who is interested.
