Spring 2014 registration/advising process

Does anyone know when Spring 2014 classes will be available to be accessed for planning purposes? I know that emails have already been sent to eng’g students about ‘open advising’ - where they can get their reg holds lifted if they know what classes they are going to take already - not sure how this happens when the courses are not yet available to be seen.

I don’t know the answer to your question, but I do know that my S did an advising session today and got his hold lifted. I think he just listed the classes he plans to take, and then I guess he will just have to hope the times work? It does seem like it would make more sense to wait till the classes are available.

I searched through some old threads earlier to figure this out and it seems that last year the schedule was available on Thursday, Sept 13, so I’m guessing it will be available later this week.

S could have gone to open advising today, but I don’t believe he did, so hopefully he will be able to see the schedule before the next advising session.

Go into degree works and planner. If you type in a sample schedule for Spring 2014 then click “more info” at the top of the column it lists section numbers and times for all the classes in the sample schedule. No professors were listed. Also I hope this is a work in progress spreadsheet and they are still adding class sections, because several classes my son needed didn’t have any sections listed.

You don’t need the exact schedule for the registration hold to be lifted, just a list of the classes. It’s not like they are going to check for any course conflicts or that a student actually registered for the classes they said they were going to choose.

Spring 2014 is now availabe to view under Look up classes in MyBama.

How does my D schedule a session with her A&S adviser? She had scheduled an appointment using the A&S website two weeks ago, but had to cancel that appointment. She went back to set up a new appointment and she says the A&S website has a totally changed and the new website says they now need to login to mybama to schedule an meeting with an advisor. Both her and I have looked all over the mybama site and can’t find where to schedule an appointment!

My son also is having trouble even finding out who his advisor is in degree works? I told him he needed to figure it out without mom but sure would be interested in the answer.

For engineering (which I think includes computer science, which is what I think you son is, upstate?), here’s the the link

CS major DD was able to schedule an appt this week with her advisor for Spring selection. The link Class2012Mom posted is correct for advisors. Erin Jett is super responsive and helpful.

Thanks! He is actually in the business school, but I found this, which is helpful!

^Sorry, think I was your confusing your son with riprorin’s son. Riprorin used to live upstate NY, right? Hard to keep all the CC kids straight without a flowchart and database.

Yes you are right! Rather impressive that you can keep any of this straight :)

I remember you both because I used to live in upstate NY in grade school. I loved it there. Hated leaving to move to Chicago area.

Thanks for posting the link to cs/eng! I sent it to my son.

They finally updated the A&S page with the correct link for scheduling with an adviser:
