Applied EA for 2013 fall semester - deferred. RD - waitlisted. Just got accepted for the Spring 2014 semester. Will probably say no, as my parents have already started paying for the school I chose, but I can't help thinking "what if?" :(

I would think it would be hard to start a college in the spring. Fall is when everyone is making friends and relationships are forming. You may want to just go where you chose to go and see how it goes. I think you’ll enjoy starting in the fall and enjoying your whole freshman experience. If you hate it you can apply as a transfer to Elon sophomore year. There are so many good schools out there. . .my guess is that you’ll love where you are going. :)

Thanks for the little pep talk haha Yeah, as you can tell, I’ve been questioning a lot lately if I made the right decision. Because if I got into Elon back in March, I probably would have chosen it over the school I am now going to go to. But you’re right, its hard to start a school in the spring. Thats why my parents are telling me its ok to transfer, but I have to spend one year at the school first, not one semester. Thanks for cheering me up!

Found out about my acceptance on July 3rd via ontrack. Said I would get an email and a letter - didn’t get either. I checked back on July 9th (for some reason I remember hearing a July 10 deadline to say yes or no, but I guess that was another school) and all information about my Spring acceptance was gone… Called Elon on Thursday, they said the only person who could fix that for me was my admissions counselor, who won’t be in until tomorrow… Very strange…

Not all that strange - summer is the only time people in Higher Ed. can take vacations (used to work in college admin.), so it’s pretty common for them to be out…at least he or she will be back soon.

One thing I would recommend is checking your spam folder because sometimes information is automatically sent to spam if it comes from a large institutional server. My company encounters that all the time.

How was your info gone? Shouldn’t OnTrack tell you about your status?

I meant the whole situation was strange, haha, not the fact that he was out that day. I did indeed check my spam folder and nothing was there. OnTrack DID tell me about my status, but was gone the next week. As I said, I didn’t get an email or a letter like OnTrack told me. I got in contact with my admissions counselor and he said he spoke with the Tech Dept. who said everything on OnTrack should be fixed and up again next week. (That still doesn’t explain the missing email and letter, does it…)

Dorm assignments for incoming freshmen also appeared about a week early (7/8) and then were removed. Students called and Elon said it was a computer error and we shouldn’t take them seriously - they might not be the same when the dorm assignments officially came out on 7/15. For my son, he did receive the same dorm room. So, maybe there were overall computer problems.
