Hey I was wondering if anyone would want to give me feedback on my statement of purpose for computer science? I am willing to read your essay also!

Well cs is almost impossible to get into now. All internal transfers were rejected even with 4.0 they told them because of the limited funding they had no space open so they had to reject them. You might want to find another school. They really don’t have space open for transfers . If internal transfers students could nit get in with 4.0 idk about outside transfers.

Hey guys, I just had to drop one of my summer courses because the workload was too much and it was either the class or my job. (I work at Half-Price Books, so I obviously chose my job!) Do you guys think this will look bad on my transcripts? I also dropped a class last fall. My GPA is a 3.64 and I’m applying for COLA,

@putabirdonit I dropped two classes on my transcript when I applied for transfer, and I’m at UT now. They understand if you drop a class, it happens! If possible, retake the class again and make an A in it and it shows great upward trend!

Sorry everyone for being absent! I’ve been lurking the thread but now replying as much because I truly try to analyze all of y’all’s personal stats and give the best advice I can! I’m still here and messaged a few of you that have mentioned me personally for help. @ForeverFish @rogerybarra

@DeeGeeErbear It’s Texas Government so if I retake it I could take it this next semester, but I’d have to take US Government next summer since they don’t transfer as a singular class. Should I just do that?

Does anyone know what kind of stats COFA accepts? I posted earlier about applying to COLA, but decided I’d like to double major. I don’t know which I should put first on my application.

Fine Arts is the one college I can’t really account for, because they require a portfolio for certain majors, and then music and dance are based on talent which is subjective to the program… Just stick with cola and declare your second major when you are able. That’s what I would do! Xx

@135pipe meh, I don’t really like A&M from what i’ve heard the social scene is bad and I really prefer Austin to college station. I am applying to other good CS schools tho like Udub, UIUC, Georgia tech Umich ann arbor, and more.

UT is my top choice though so I am pretty nervous now lol

@arkarind Your high school transcript isn’t even required for admission. Neither is an SAT or ACT score. My advice would be just leave that stuff off and send in your college level transcript. Obviously include resume items from high school if you feel they’ll be helpful but you don’t have to mention anything that you feel would be a detriment to your application. Just fyi, I got accepted into UT-Austin with a GED, no SAT or ACT scores, and no EC’s from high school. My entire application was based off of college and I was one of the first people here to receive an acceptance from COLA.

Here is my information. Any feedback will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Syracuse University Graduate (B.S. Economics/Finance)
GPA: 3.29
Applying for College of Natural Science
1st major: Computer Science, 2nd major: Mathematics
I feel confident in my essays.
4 letters being written up: Army: Peer of same rank, Platoon Sergeant, and Company Grade Commanding Officer; Volunteer: Fellow Volunteer
Volunteering: USO Downtown San Antonio

@arkarind I became a Texas resident while I am stationed here. I provided the paperwork necessary to make that happen. The CS experience I have comes from Army Correspondence Courses and reading “For Dummies” books for a basic understanding with some application. Seeing everyone else’s GPA, I will admit, it is humbling to see such high scores. Since GPA isnt the only factor (but could be a main one) I am optimistic in my experiences in the military with my awards and the education I received would be something worth considering for selection.

I have submitted my application electronically and am still submitting letters of recommendations as they come. I’m looking to submit as many as four recommendations.

@jhern5 ah ok thats cool. I wish I was a texas resident lol. 4 rec letters is generally considered too many though, I would stick with 2 good ones

Do you think it’ll be too late if i submit my app in the next few days? Im still working on my essays lol. I know that the deadline is far away but they do rolling admissions which makes me nervous
