Did anyone else apply to CAS?

@steffy16: Sure it feels like that now, because you already got accepted!
@rdlp123: Yep, I’m CAS as well, no word yet though. I think you and I were the only two from the thread so far that I’ve seen that said they were CAS. Not sure where the third person who was accepted applied.

Yeah I sent in my mid-term report early compared to most so that’s probably why I got my decision back so early. Can’t complain!

Should everyone who hears back (accepted or not) post their stats so later threads can assess their chances? I don’t want to be that guy though haha. And I kind of hate the whole “chance me” phenomenon on collegeconfidential.

@Smashlye95 But to give you a more immediate answer, Cornell is looking for a number of things. First and foremost: a strong GPA. They also highly value a passion for your planned course of study at Cornell as demonstrated through your extracurriculars and essays. It’s also essential to articulate in your essays that Cornell is the only place where you can accomplish your goals–aka your “fit”.

@fortsibut I called CAS and they told me that all CAS applicants will hear before Thanksgiving, so my guess is that the decisions will start to come out next week like the others have suggested.

What about IRL?

@rdlp123: Thanks for the update! Two weeks feels like a long time to wait, but hopefully we’ll both have good news before then. Fingers crossed and all that. I’ll update as soon as I hear one way or the other, hopefully you’ll do the same.

@fortsibut for sure!

Why am I not in Ithaca already?! Ugh.

It’s quiet. Too quiet.

I know

Often what happens is when people get rejected, they tend not to post their admission result. This effect makes relative acceptance rates seem high by the number of people posting with good news. My guess? The rejections have already begun to roll out.

@fortsibut this week might be the week for us both. Good luck to us!

Point taken, PSC. I guess we’ve had, what, ~15 people post in this thread, maybe 20, and results from 3? Wish we knew more about what schools people had applied to, only a few people actually said. I’ll definitely be posting my results either way, as soon as I hear. Hoping CAS starts getting responses out today!

@rdlp123 the same to you! Hopefully we’ll both be enjoying the icy Ithaca weather come January. =)

I spoke to an admissions officer last week and she said they are still reading applications! She even said there is a lot of applications they haven’t reviewed yet! So don’t worry if you haven’t heard it. I really think its just a matter of when you submit the midterm report/school sends out decisions.

What school did you contact? Usually ILR only has roughly 1000-1200 applicants

@hugoblack: I’d be interested to know what school you applied to too, if you don’t mind sharing. Particularly since you’re one of the three that confirmed they’ve been accepted so far. =)

@fortsibut, sure, ILR!

@jmeltz94 are you sure about that number? Is that the transfer number? I think all of Cornell only enrolls about 100 spring transfers every year for all the schools.

Anyone else applying to SHA?

I think it’s reasonable for the schools to take a considerate time to review our applications! At least no one got rejected yet :D

@dreamer155 I applied to SHA. Super nervous…

I myself still don’t have a completed application! I just took my last midterm last week and I’m waiting for them to view my midterm report. Question: How long did it take Cornell to update your midterm report? It’s already been like 3 business days for me :/
