Spring 2015 Transfer Thread

What do you mean by rolling admissions?

3.78, with a 4.0 for the past year at a state school about two hours from Cornell. Looking at 3 A’s, A-, and a B at the midterm this semester with a pretty heavy load in history and French. (History/French major) Wrote two very strong (my opinion) essays along with a decent GPA, but my current college is pretty mediocre reputation-wise. I did have grandparents that attended Cornell as well, I’m really not sure how much that’s considered. (Just attended for language training in the 40’s, didn’t get degrees or anything) I’m an older, non traditional students so my extra-curriculars are fairly weak. Anyone wanna assess my chances? =)

@fortsibut‌ With non-trad students ECs are typically considered in the context of the work/school balance. If you are attending college with a full-time load and working, it would be unreasonable to expect you to be highly active in 5 different clubs. If you are not working, then the lack of ECs might be a slight negative, but in general ECs have a diminished importance for transfer students.

What college are you applying to at Cornell?

p.s. Come visit the non-trad forum http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/non-traditional-students/

Hey everyone… Cornell hopeful here >.< !!

Applying to College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, just submitted my application this week.

Here are my stats:
Current School: Westchester Community College
Major I’m in now: Liberal Arts Math and Science
Major I’m applying to: Biology
Current GPA: 4.0, honors and presidents list

2 AMAZING LOR’s, and what I think are some pretty strong essays.

My H.S. GPA was pretty weak… but I’m also a non-traditional student, having graduated in 2007.

EC’s:

 • Internship at the NYS Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University, brain imaging study- summer 2013
 • Research paper publication in WCC’s Scholarly Journal
 • Treasurer of the Creative Writing Club. Established writing workshops at a homeless shelter, oversee club monetary funds.
 • Independent tutor for Biology and Chemistry
 • Member of Medical Pre-professionals club
 • Fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Helped fund-raise over $35,000 between 2011-present

@Steffy16 doesn’t your school have an articulation agreement with CALS? Does that mean you’re guaranteed admission if you take the required courses?

@dukesilver17 The articulation agreement they have with my school is an agreement to accept almost all credits from WCC… it definitely doesn’t mean I’m guaranteed admission, wish it did though! lol =D

oh damn…that’s still pretty sweet though

Can someone please help me out. I’m looking to transfer as an Econ major. I’m currently in my sophomore year. I had to transfer out of my first school after the first semester of freshman year due to family issues (will obviously communicate that with admissions). I still made a 3.71. At my state’s flagship university, second semester, I earned a 3.786 in the business school. This semester I am looking to earn a 3.7+. At the end of the current semester, I would have completed 49 credit hours. I am also a member of the honors college. As far as EC’s go, I am a member of a fraternity, the finance society, and have helped in the coordination of various philanthropic events such as an Autism Speaks event that raised over $50k, a party and basketball tournament that’s proceeds were donated to Breast cancer. This summer, I also worked full time at the world headquarters of a major corporation. What do my chances look like? Would really appreciate any input.

Has anyone else not received their ApplicantID yet? I sent in my application yesterday. Thanks!

@dukesilver From other threads I’ve seen, it looks like we need to wait at least 2 weeks from the time the application was submitted to receive the appID… Ughh the agony!! :((

@Steffy16 waaatttttt. So that means we won’t even know what they have for another 2 weeks? Fack

@DukeSilver17‌ I got mine about a week and a half after I submitted my application. Cornell likes to take its time haha.

@rdlp123 ugh crap. Thanks for sharing tho!

Just sent in my application and I forgot to send transcripts so now I have to rush them :/

I hope I receive mine soon as well lol

Just received my applicantID via e-mail! Pretty surprised since I just sent in my application 2 days ago. Anyone else get theirs today?

Now for the long wait guys. It looks like people from last year’s thread started to get their decisions on the second week of November.

I forgot to submit my css profile  do you think they’ll accept it
