Spring 2017 GS

hey guys! I was hoping someone would be able to help me out with a question. I just received and email from gs letting me know that I was still missing documents (my two reference letters) and how they had to be submitted before November 21st. Which isn’t a problem since they’re already been mailed (from BC so they will take some time). However, the email then went on to let me know that documents received by mail can take between 7-10 business days to be processed. Does anyone know if the documents need to be processed by the 21st to count for the spring application?

It means that it has to be post-marked by the 21st. So as long as the USPS post-marks it by Nov 21st you should be fine.

Just got an accepted after applying Oct 1.

Transfer from Comm Coll with 70+ creds, 4.0, no SAT or ACT, president of a few clubs blah blah and pretty mediocre recommendations I think. Essay was strong, though.

Just got accepted after applying Oct 1.

Last time I set a foot in a college classroom was 2011. GPA between 3.3-3.6 for cumulative school work.No SAT or ACT.

Good luck everyone!

@volateel thank you for your help!
& congratulations to you and @Barksdale on being accepted!

@wcrunaway Thank you  I won’t be attending because of the cost, but best of luck to you, I’m sure you’ll get in no problem

@Barksdale where are you going instead??

Congratulations to all who have been accepted, and the best of luck to those waiting on a response. I received my acceptance yesterday but the joy of being accepted is tempered by the financial aspect and the possible out of pocket expense :-< … I’m weighing this one long and hard.

@volateel safety is Baruch, but I’m aiming for Amherst or Middlebury. They’re more suited to me (and financially fantastic)

Congratulations to you both! Did you guys get an acceptance letter via mail?

@addison12 An email saying “Your application status has changed”, then when logging in there was an acceptance letter along with a few other documents

@volateel @Barksdale Congratulations to you both! Did you guys get an acceptance letter via mail?

I was accepted.

Today’s the Early Action deadline. Anyone still waiting on a decision like me? Anyone heard today?

Yeah, I’m in the same boat and I can imagine numerous others are as well. All we can do at this point is let the chips fall and take solace in our effforts. Reminds me of Searching For Bobby Fischer when the coach of the antagonist said essentially: no matter how much time and effort we invest in our students they’ll still make their own decisions (to Waitzin’s coach). Tell you though, I played the hell out of angles. Applying early action, being a “legacy” student, both of which biasly give applicants a proven boost at many american institutions (ask UPenn and Dartmouth). Even my insistence to submit all the goddamn optional content: pic, resume, (specifically tailored to my listed first choice major) optional essay. Doing all this to gain an edge over countless equally, if not more qualified General Studies prospects. All for an edge in what is just a 1 in 3 chance.

@queencityqueen That doesn’t sound right. Have you tried calling the admission office? Just have your application number and/or CUID ready when you do, to make it easier on them looking it up.

@IvyleaguerByBlood Did you use nonwords like biasly in your essay? That might be it. Try throwing more movie quotes in there for extra “edge” next time.

Anyone who applied for Nov.1 Deadline received something??

Yes, I applied before November 1st deadline. I got the acceptance letter but still waiting for financial aid decision.

@College002 You mean you applied for Nov.1 deadline(I think it is called regular decision?) and already got the result??

Sorry! October 1st*
I got the decision a week ago.
