Hey everyone! I am 100% interested in transferring for the upcoming spring semester, but I am starting to get nervous about my GPA. Although it isn’t necessarily bad, it is just way too low to give me confidence with this. I have a 3.3 overall and a few solid extracurriculars. I will be transferring from a large state university further away, and I am ready to be in the city of Boston at a great school. I am studying business marketing, with a possible minor in graphic design. A lot of people who I have talked to who have transferred in to BU had higher GPA’s, like 3.6 and 3.7. Let me know what you think my chances are, just be honest please so I can either feel better or get a reality check!!! Thank you all!
I have a philosophy about applying to schools. If you feel really passionate about a school apply no matter what your chances of getting in are. I got into BU as a transfer with 3.3 so it’s possible. You just need to be a well rounded solid student with plenty of EC and we’ll written essays and recommendations. Now with full disclosure I did have a personal recommendation from a professor at BU as well. The last thing to consider is what your course load is like. A lower GPA, like a 3.3, is more “acceptable” if you are in a current course load that is difficult like the hard sciences for example. A 3.3 will look far worse if all you have done is introductory liberal arts courses. Hope this helps. You can message me if you have any questions.
