I missed the priority deadline for transferring into the Spring 2019 semester, so I’m applying by the Nov. 15 RD deadline. Is anyone else here doing the same? This thread can be used as a decisions thread for transfer RD too.
what are the chances of getting in for transfer students based off of high school?
I’m not sure. I’m a junior in University so I can’t say, but they would probably use (more or less) a screening similar to what they use for incoming freshman fresh out of high school. @ex2x01
I’ve also applied for transfer for the regular deadline. I’m a little nervous about it haha. I have a great college GPA and quite a decent high school one, but my SAT scores from 2015 were a little low. Currently a sophomore. If anyone has some good insight let us know!
@kaleccrom Don’t worry, I’m nervous too! Glad to see someone doing the same as me - we’ll get through this together, haha. Since I’m a junior, I already have over 30 credits completed so UMD does not require a high school transcript for me as well as SAT scores. Kinda glad on that, both my high school grades and SAT scores were relatively mediocre.
A friend of mine got in with a 1200 and 3.0 gpa. Maybe because of his extra circulars.
@eXtremous what major are you applying for? I was annoyed that I couldn’t opt out of sending my SAT scores, since I have 28 credits done lol. I’m currently a physics major and hoping to transfer into one at UMD.
@kaleccrom I’m a History major! That’s cool that you’re a physics major, I could never do science haha.
@kaleccrom @eXtremous if it’s any help I applied for JMU spring transfer the day of the deadline and surprisingly was one of the few selected to hear back 3 weeks later which is pretty early! I’m both surprised but not surprised mainly because I’m technically a junior graduating with my associates in December. I didn’t meet the guaranteed admission requirement though, had no letter of recommendation nor did I send in any mid term report. Just wrote a standard essay about my growth in a secondary school. I also had pretty eh grades in HS but my college GPA is roughly 3.35. I mainly show all As with a B or two except from one semester last year where. I had 3 C’s, 3 B’s and an F. I also talked about how that semester was fairly rough to a death while taking on 7 classes at once. Not sure how I was picked within the small group to here back first but hope that gives you an idea especially since spring semester is usually harder to get into with limited spacing! Good luck
Sorry wrong thread!!
I am applying as a transfer freshman. I currently go to UMBC but applied for spring regular decision. Do you think my standards will be the same as the freshman admitted in the fall, harder, or easier?
@2122JimmyD Depends on your major.
I applied as an economics major, after realizing UMD was a top ranked business school in the nation and incredibly hard to get into to. Realizing this I called admissions to possibly change the major and they said this will not affect my chances. Their first step is admitting students to the letters and sciences program. If you qualify for this, your application is sent to your specific program to see if you get accepted into that as well. I am just concerned with getting into the school, not my program.
If you’re a girl and looking for housing at UMD HMU I’m looking to release my apartment since I’m about to graduate. I live on campus (5-10 minute walk from every academic building) I have one super nice and clean roommate. My apartment is pretty quiet so great for studying. Good luck with admissions
@Seniorterp that actually might be something I would need. Sorry I can’t send a pm on this site yet since I don’t have 15 posts, but if that offer still stands once I receive my decision from the school, I would love to have it.
My daughter would be interested as she will be attending in the spring. Where do you live?
Decisions anyone?
Not yet, still waiting
Haven’t received anything yet
Did anyone get anything yet?
