Any thoughts on the spring semester being back on campus? A little concerned with rising numbers and my school having us “box” up our dorms…just in case.
Any colleges make spring on campus decisions yet?

And do you think the vaccines will help in decision making?
Just read in the Fall and Coronavirus thread that several LACs are asking kids to box up their stuff. My son has not been advised this at his medium sized private school (Elon). I know that Ohio State, which has been hybrid, just said the first two weeks of spring semester will now be all virtual.
I think the vaccine timing will be too late for spring semester decisions.
I really hope that the schools that have done a good (or even just decent) job of managing the virus with students on campus will be able to continue with that format for spring! But with local governments making new changes as levels rise across the country, honestly it might all be up in the air again for spring.
My school (Tufts) also asked us to box up belongings. We don’t have to take everything home, but just box stuff and leave in the dorm incase they need to ship to us.
I was really looking forward to a spring semester. Hope the numbers lower over the break.
We are due to start classes 2/1. Students arriving from hotspots come in early for testing and quarantine.
TCU finals start this week and end next week. Spring semester is definitely on campus (or online if chosen) and starts Jan 19. No breaks except for a Tuesday-Thursday “Spring Refresh” to try to minimize travelling. Ending semester a little later than typical, after first week of May. School provided free flu vaccines and seems like they intend to provide free Covid ones when available.
Tufts announced Covid testing every other day
I don’t think there’s any way to tell at this point - most Spring start dates are two months away, and some schools have delayed them even further.
We’re definitely in another spike. The duration depends on how dumb our citizens and government are.
No, vaccines won’t make a difference. At the very best, they’ll be approved for emergency use and will have started distribution to priority communities - health workers, elderly, etc., for at least the first quarter of 2021, IMO. At least that long.
I think there’s a real question as to whether schools will be back to some semblance of normal by the fall semester.
