Chance me?
I am a Texas resident at a CC close to Austin. Looking for advice if I should even try to apply to UT or not.
Stats:
3.54 GPA
PTK member
47 hours completed; 12 additional to be completed in fall
Major: Government (1st choice) or IRG
LOR: Strong. From Econ professor and a person in high position at my CC.
Essays: I’ve already written them but will revise when I start my application. Will talk about how I’ve wanted to go to UT since 7th grade.
I’m looking for advice if I should take my chances at UT. I know my GPA is low at a 3.54 but it truly is my dream to go there.
Thank you!
Bump.
As you said, your gpa is low for UT Austin transfer. So I would definitely have a backup school to apply to. Your chances are not great. However, they do accept the occasional transfer student with your gpa for the majors you listed, and you should go ahead and try if it’s something you want to do. It’s not crazy, just be prepared that your gpa is going to hurt your application, so be sure and compensate with good essays and a good resume. Good luck!
Yes you can. in past transfer forums for the spring 2020 people have gotten admitted with a 3.4
I ended up applying for the Econ major. Just submitted everything
Any word on admissions?
Applied with a 3.2 for History, GPA is low but I heard liberal art majors are easier to get into. I was a late bloomer and had a rough first semester of college. I talk about it on my essay and how I’ve made the deans list every semester since with 3 letters of recommendations. so fingers crossed.
Not yet. Mine is still in review; it should be around late November-December before we here anything back. And I’m in that exact situation where my first semesters were bad, I have also made deans a few times in a row now. My GPA is on the lower side as well but you never know. Good luck to you!!
Hi! Is anyone on here an auto-transfer?
I’m not
