Spring admission

I’m a senior in high school and I just opened up the UC app and see an option to apply for the spring quarter/semester. Instead of applying for a fall semester, could I apply for the spring semester and send them my grades from my second semester of HS? Since my GPA right now is on the cusp and I’m doing independent study to replace my lower grades, that would be beneficial. Just wondering, thanks!

The only UC campus with spring admits is Merced.

Usually spring quarter/semester admits are reserved for special cases like academic re-entry, medical disabled, and military duty students. Historically freshmen (straight from HS) applicants can only apply in the fall while transfer applicants can apply to one UC campus (Merced) for spring entry.

Do you have the minimum 30 California Community College credits (60 overall) needed to apply as a transfer? If yes, then you can try to apply as a spring transfer to UC Merced (if they open admissions for spring transfers). If not, then no you would have to wait until next fall.

Also, there is no guarantee Merced will even open their spring application period. Currently all UC campuses are open to applicants during fall only:

There’s also the option of just applying next fall as a freshman. However, just make sure if you go to community college, you ONLY do it the summer right after you graduate high school. Once you take any college course anywhere, starting in fall, you’re deemed a transfer student and must apply as a junior.

@SDGoldenBear, where does it say you can only be a transfer to apply to Merced in the spring? I’m not seeing it on the Merced link I posted.
