My S (OOS) got spring admission. Thought this was a bust, but then I see on the website that Spring admission students can take courses through "Maryland Connection" in the fall and earn up to 16 credits. Anyone know what the deal is on this? Are these courses the same as the regular college courses? It the spring admit thing about lack of dorm space or state mandated maximum enrollments? What's the deal?

I don't know but I really need more information on this. I'm out of state and I got Spring too.

Did any one else besides me get Fall admission today? Everyone that applied RD seems to have gotten Spring.

Just found the answer to most of my questions at http://fc.umd.edu/fc/faqs/
Freshman connection looks like a great deal for the person who likes to sleep in, as the courses go from 3:30 - 9 pm M-Th and all day Friday. Major downside is not getting a dorm room, which seems it would inhibit "getting in the groove" and making social connections. Also, a spring dorm room isn't guaranteed, but I expect they figure enough students will leave after 1st semester to free up space.
Still, it beats WL as its a true admit.

Maryland is making me pay for my digressions through junior year, fair enough - I'm working on getting a group together to lease a nice house (still less than the dorms (!)). If your son is pretty independent, have him (or you) shoot me a pm or aim-magicstickvi

sry for infesting this forum with my advert lol
