A friend of mine who got into film production for spring of this year said he received the "welcome to the trojan family" envelope in april of last year.

He couldn't remember the exact date though.

My cousin was admitted for spring admission a few years back. I know she didn't receive anything until a few days past April 11th. I remember her telling me that she was calling everyday because they still had not notified her; and they kept telling her they didn't know anything yet, and then they finally told her they'd admit her in spring.

Last year I remember the spring admit letters were sent out in one of the last waves, right during the beginning of April, mostly with rejections. I think they'd come in a big envelope, because you ARE accepted... but I'm not positive on that one?

They say it's because they don't have enough room to admit everyone in the fall, but there are so many highly qualified applicants that they admit some in the spring. I think the only difference is you start in January rather than September.

Because more acceptees matriculated last year than expected, and since USC has reduced the # of admits for this year, I wonder whether spring admissions will continue to be offered.

I'm sure that the reason some are offered spring admits is that for whatever reason, some freshmen who start in the fall will not return in the spring. They can probably predict the percentage on that somewhat, so they know how many people to admit for spring to replace those who leave.
