Spring Admit 2013... Fall 2012 Community College Classes

I have looked around at other spring admit threads, but after reading the posts, I have become even more confused about transferring credits from a CC to USC.

As a Spring admit, I intend on taking classes at a city/community college (Pasadena City College to be precise) during Fall 2012 so I can get some GE's out of the way. I received a 4 on my Biology AP exam, so I know my GE III Scientific Inquiry credit is covered.

Since I am trying to switch majors into Business Administration, I have taken note of some requirements for Marshall transfer students as well (WRIT 130/140 and Math 118/125). But since I am an entering freshman who is just trying to switch majors, do I still need to take equivalents of these classes?

Are there any other Spring 2013 admits who are taking classes at a CC during Fall? Do I go through the normal application process for Pasadena City College or is there a different process for students who just want to transfer some credits to USC (like me)? Do I have to alert PCC about how I have already been accepted into USC and will only attend PCC for Fall 2012? Also, after taking the CC classes, does that mean I have fulfilled the GE's for Spring 2013 at USC as well? Or does it just mean I'm on the same track as a Fall 2012 admit freshman?

Sorry for all the questions. After researching this for a couple days, I am beginning to worry and stress out. Any answers/advice will be greatly appreciated!

There is more information about spring admits and USC articulation on the USC website (you may have already investigated all this, but I will put it out there anyway for others). There are four steps USC outlines here:

[USC ARR : Articulation : Spring Admits](http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/spring_admits.html)

If you go through the steps, you can even send in a proposed class list for pre-approval of credit.

To find out what you should/could take for the particular CC you will go to and the specific major you will have at USC, use the Transfer Planning Guide—

USC:Transfer Planning Guide;

You can also contact your admissions counselor for information. He/she may be able to tell you what courses to take at the CC for your major at USC. You can find your admissions counselor here:

[Admission Counselor - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/adm_counselor.html)

Here is the specific USC page for the articulation with PCC (this says for the 2011-2012 school year though-- not sure when they update the page:

—I’d ask your admissions counselor your specific questions that are not answered after going through this process.

Thank you! The Transfer Planning Guide simplifies this by quite a bit. I’m also waiting for them to update the lists to 2012-2013 but it’s good to get an idea of what classes are required. I have contacted my counselor as well as the admissions team at Marshall (to see if I can switch into Business Administration) but I’m still awaiting responses.

First off, congratulations on your acceptance into USC. I was a spring admit last year and I understand how you must feel about this whole spring admit process. Regardless of your major, I know that all students must take WRIT 130/140, GE Category I and II, and so I highly recommend you take the equivalent of these classes at your CC. Also, here is the link for the USC Articulation agreement, Error;

As for the community college you choose to attend, you have to go through their entire enrollment process. Ultimately, you should contact your advisor and they are more than willing to help you. I just want to say that going to a community college isn’t so bad. You will actually enjoy yourself and get to meet lots of interesting people. GO TO THE FOOTBALL GAMES!(if you can). You will meet so many students (fall and spring) and get to enjoy all the perks of being a Trojan. Once again, congratulations!
