Spring Admit Need help deciding!

Well I got in for spring admission to Cal and the more I've been looking at the other UCs I got into ( irvine, LA, SB, SC, Davis) the more I keep thinking about cal. I tried to send my FPF slip off in the mail but due to the 7.2 earthquake that hit so cal last sun. I didn't have Internet for a few days n couldn't print out the slip in time so now I'm on the waitlist. I'm not sure if I should just choose one if the others cause I could do the freshman suet start program there while I wouldn't be able to start cal until spring?

I don't know if I am being illogiical for not choosing one of the others or not. Also my home life is pretty rocky as I don't get along with my parents in any manner so the thought of staying home for an extra 5 months freaks me out. Then again the thought of not going to Cal makes me think I might regret it if I don't.

So any insight into considering spring admission as
well as my chances of getting into fpf via waitlist if I send in
my SIR.

did you tell the fpf people about your situation (earthquake)…

Hey there. So I’ve had quite the experience with Cal as a spring admit. I was accepted into cal last year (I’m now a freshman in college) for the spring and was wait listed for fpf as well. However, I was later notified around the end of July that they had a slot open in the program and offered it to me. I turned down the offer because I’d already made fall plans. Anywho, I registered for classes for the spring and got all hyped up only to find out they didn’t have housing for me. 35% of spring admits don’t get housing. I decided to defer to the fall semester instead so I talked to the registrar to find out how I could come back the next semester. Needless to say, I was later denied readmission for the fall because I didn’t “formally withdraw” from call. What they didn’t know was that they gave me wrong instructions on how to withdraw in order to be readmitted and wouldn’t ket me in on a technical error they made. A few weeks later I got in touch with the admissions people in charge and they apologized on behalf of cal. All i needed to do was reapply as a transfer applicant (I went to community college last fall/this spring) and they would admit me. While I am thankful for that, they’ve put me through so much stress that I’m worried this wont be the last time something like this happens. And as you may already know war with the budget cuts it will be difficult to get all the classes you need. However, since space had opened up in fpf for me, it might for you as well.

I would hate for someone to have to go through the lengthy and stressful process I went through as a spring admit so I say go for UCLA. You’ll be able to start right away and it seems like a better deal:)
So that’s my story, I hope my advice helps.

Oh btw, I applied to another school while I was freaking out about the whole not bring readmitted fiasco, and if I’m accepted and get a good f.a package I’m going there.

@dreamer92 no i didn’t bother telling them as i figured that if it was full they would just be like oh that sucks, anyways

@mchacha oh my yours was a spring admit horror story. i would hate for that to happen to me. and wow telling you in july that you got in was crazy-it would be pretty impossible to find housing then. well i think im going to try to go visit cal this weekend instead of going to my prom haha just cause i want to see what i would be missing if i choose not to go there. well thank you very much for your story. i have like ten more days to decide ehh hope i pick one by then.

Tell 'em just in case, Mockpointe. You never know if it’ll tip the scale on the waitlist.

Skipping prom for Cal? Dedicated stuff.
