spring admit question

if i am a spring admit and i decide to go to USC i'll join them in the spring next year

but will i be doing the same in 2011 as well or will I be joining them in the fall like normal students?

You will start in Spring 2010 and then carry on continuous enrollment - just like any other USC student. Congrats!

phew thanks a lot!
i was really worried for a second there

between september and december what am i supposed to do?

am i supposed to attend community college?

can i attend one of the other schools i’ve been accepted to till then?

will being a spring admit be a handicap for my remaining time there, putting me behind everyone else?

can i defer to next year and join USC in the fall?

You can do whatever you want in the fall, so seize the day (semester)! Lots of kids in California go to community college and get some credits that will count toward USC. Others take trips or work and save money. You could possibly attend one of the other schools to which you were admitted, but I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re taking a spot from another student who actually plans to go there all 4 years. If it’s a large state university with a high acceptance rate, it would be fine to attend for just a semester, but be sure the credits will transfer. Check the USC registrar’s website to learn about articulation agreements and such.

If you earn credits in the fall, or already have AP credits, you won’t be at a disadvantage at all - you can still graduate with your class.

I don’t know if they would let you defer, but you could ask the admissions office.

presuming i do decide to do nothing or maybe do like an internship in another country

how late will i graduate?

would it affect me in terms of getting a job or getting into grad school on time?

It all depends on your major and how many units you’ll need in the end.
It also helps if you go in with AP Credits knocking out a few pre-major or GE requirements.
Regardless, it wouldn’t help to take a FEW classes at a community college just to stay on track with everyone else, and even if you don’t need to, it’ll help you get ahead.

But ultimately the choice is yours! I may try to do a combination of both working and community college and traveling if I can
