Spring Admit Student for USC wants to attend UCSB for the summer and fall quarters

I know it sounds bad; I think it sounds shady too. However, I actually love UCSB--it's my top choice alongside USC, though for different reasons--and wish to attend for a while if I can (my parents are pushing hard for USC, so I don't have much choice). I'm pretty sure if I do well at UCSB I could stay there, but that's not the issue at hand.

I contacted USC, and they said it's okay if I attend UCSB for the summer and fall and they also showed me what classes are transferable for my GE's. The counselor, however, is not sure how I should inform UCSB of my decision to transfer after the fall quarter. Do you have any idea how I should? Should I just submit my SIR and go in as a degree-seeking student and then transfer after the fall?

Also, just a general question about UCSB, are the GE's the same for all majors or are there different GE's depending on the major and degree?

This is actually a discussion for ALL spring admits to all schools; how is it handled?..from what I can assess, you are completely not obligated to tell UCSB about the transfer

You just submit your SIR and transfer after the fall…

What I don’t understand is what happens if USC eventually moves you to fall…are you then in violation because you are considered “double-deposited”?..maybe others can chime in

So I don’t have to tell them at all? Wow, I didn’t know that. How does that work then? Do I just leave after finals and ask them to transfer my courses, or…?

I know that for USC you can decline fall admission if it’s offered to you which makes sense because some students end up studying abroad and have already made payment.

I’d like to hear from other people to. Bump! :D

^ you three don’t care that you probably deny (read “screw”) three applicants currently on waitlist out of an opportunity for fall admission at UCSB?

Considering I’m vying to try and stay after the fall, but am currently opposed by my parents, I think I’m doing my best to go to the school I wish to attend. I perfectly understand your stance, though, not the number of people I’ve apparently screwed over.

^Green, counted you twice, sorry. Also, it may turn out that all wait-listed applicants might get accepted thus in that case you wouldn’t be messing up anyone with your contemplated fall in-and-out. Good luck to you.
