Though College Park is my State Flagship and first choice, the school's increasing selectivity has me worrying about whether I'll be admitted in the fall class. I know that CP admits some people as "spring admits" and was wondering if any of you knew anyone whom actually attended CP after spring admission? Or, your take on the advantages and disadvantages of the whole process. Thaks in advance.

Advantages: if you are a Spring admit at Maryland, they have a program called “freshmen connection” and you can take core classes at evening times with other Spring admit students during the FALL. So, you will not fall behind other Maryland students who were admitted during the Fall semester. You can join clubs/etc. just like any other student. Additionally, all freshmen connection students get into the dorms for their sophomore year.

Disadvantages: you won’t live in the dorms your freshman year. This is a huge disadvantage in my opinion, because I made almost ALL of my friends from living with them in the dorm. It doesn’t HAVE to be this way and I know TONS of well-adjusted freshmen connection students who made plenty of friends by joining clubs/hanging out on campus/meeting people in their apartment complex/meeting people from class. But I know that for me it would personally be hard.

So there ya have it.
