I was wondering if Spring Admits are allowed to request a roomate who got in for Fall? How does the whole spring admit housing thing work...do falls get first choice and we get the rest, or can we request with a fall roomie and get a decent room? And if we DO have to room with other spring admits at first, can we switch back into the regualar dorms after first semester? I'm wondering b/c I really would like to room with some of my friends that are either fall admits or already at Cal (is that even possible? requesting a current student as a roomate?)

I'm pretty sure that you are allowed to request a fall admit.

I think fall admits get their housing first because housing isn't guaranteed for us. I don't know if we can switch back after 1st semester. That seems unlikely.

spring admits do not have to room with other spring admits. although they are not guaranteed housing, if they do get housing (most likely they do), they are placed regularly with all other admits.

So if we request a fall roomate we can get good housing? And are we allowed to request someone whose already at Cal (entering sophomore).

So for all practical purposes, theres no way to differentiate spring from falls unless they tell you? (If they live with you, take some of the same classes, etc...)

i was accepted as a spring admit too...i was jus wondering if there were ne disadvantages of bein a spring admit or do spring admits eventually fall into the normal fall admit undergrads?

By regular dorms I meant the dorms where regular fall admits dorm. I'm not clear on if springs dorm seperately or with falls. If they are seperate, do they move in with their fall buddies in the middle of the year, or how does that work? And if we request a fall roomate, do we have the same chance of getting them as if we were a fall admit? And does it mess up the other persons housing chances since we are springs, or can we just ride their fall admittance into w/e housing they get?

Basically, if I request my friend (whose probably coming to Cal) will housing work just as if I was a fall? I can room with this person and have the same housing situation as falls? Also (in case my friend doesn't choose Cal) can we room with current students? Thx.

All admits live in the same dorms. Spring admits do not live in a separate area. Roommate requests are not a guarantee. Through the lottery system, if your friend is offered a double and you are offered a triple, you will not be able to room with each other.
