Spring Admits...

Ok so what kinds of kids are usually spring admits? Are they less-qualified but USC still likes them? Any USC students on her that were spring admits in recent years? thanks..

I really think that spring admits are not those with low stats, etc. It's probably those who show potential, but admissions wants you to take a semester off doing something else or something like that. I dunno, just my own statement really.

I believe sirwatson was a spring admit; maybe he'll help u out.

I was a springer. I can't really give you the demographic for us though. I think we have lower stats; however, there are still fall admits with similar if not lower stats. So this leads me to believe that we were looked at a little later when they had already filled the class space and so they wanted us and offered us to come when students leave for abroad and such in the spring. Don't be ashamed of it. You save money, get good grades at a JC, and are allowed more time at home.

I agree completely Sirwatson...There is absolutely no downside to Spring admits that I can see. You even get to knock off some credits in JC for ALOT less money. OR you can have a mini-gap year to go off and travel student style if you have a little money put aside.

I'm a spring admit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited! Finally a decision!

Sirwatson, could you talk a little about what it was like to come into USC in the spring? Like, did you get good dorm options, get put with a roomate, get good classes, and basically all the stuff a fall student would get? Was it harder to make friends? I'd love to go to USC but I have to make sure it's worth it because I have some other great options.

i'm a springie too! lol but all i'm feeling right now is ambivalence... i'm happy that i got into a respectable university like usc, but i kinda feel like the ugly step-sister of the acceptance pool. but in any case, if they offer me enough money, i'll most likely be a trojan! =D

yup.finally heard from usc. and was a spring admit:)
does anyone know what we're supposed to do for the fall semester..like go to jc/another college..

I have a quick question, is the spring admit envelope thick or thin?

kkgirl - You got it today? Are you in CA? Thick or thin envelope, I second that question!!!

spring admit envelop is a large full size envelope..
i got one....
not sure what to do

Coming to a USC as a springer was easy for me because I am very independent. However, I am not that outgoing. This is really important--to be outgoing. I started doing it and it really improved my social and academic life. It will help you meet people and find new experiences. If you are a guy, I strongly consider rushing a fraternity that you like. It gives you instant connections for friends, parties, other events. Girls can't rush in the spring generally. That is okay though, because a lot of the spring admits live together and the girls find many friends through this.

We get pretty good housing. It is overall better than those coming in the fall. I am in Cardinal Gardens living with some guy I randomly met at an orientation and two football players. As far as classes go, any person's first semester at USC will result in getting pretty much the last choices. But that applies to both fall and spring admissions. I don't know though, I got my classes at perfect times when I wanted.

It is definitely worth being a spring admit. Save the money, spend time with your family, and get ready for a great time to come in your life. I certainly have had no regrets about it.

Thanks for the advice everyone, jeez I wish the mailman would hurry up!

Hey, just got admitted through spring, and yeah if the money's there I'll go.

the spring admit is in a big envelope but thin. and yes i'm from cali, i'm from the bay area.

The envelope is large, but thin. It's certainly not flashy or very pretty.

Would it be impossible to live in dorm-style buildings? I don't want to live apartement-style b/c it's supposedly less social.

Were there a lot of spring admits? I just dont know...

You can still live in dorms. There are a few hundred spring admits.

I know several spring admits who moved into our dorm for the second semester, so it is definitely possible.

well, im a "springie" too. hooray.
