SPRING AWAKENING Facebook group

Hi all -

One of my former students, a sophomore MT at U of M, started a Facebook group for Spring Awakening which the producers of the show then made the official Facebook site - very cool!
http://www.springawakening.com/spread_the_word.php

If you go to that link, you can join it (if you have Facebook) and also their MySpace group.

It's really interesting to watch the development of the college/high school MT fan base for SA - it's a lot like the grassroots fan base that build around RENT when it first opened. And for all of you young performers, it's great music to know, b/c they call for auditionees from ages 13-20 and will be having an open call for replacements in the not-too-distant future (according to show sources). The show DOES have objectionable content (language and sexual references/situations), so make sure you clear it with your parents before downloading or joining the groups. (Sorry, that's the "MT Mom" in me coming out ;).)

I, for one, saw the show off-Bway this summer, and loved it!

P.S. This kind of belongs under "new Broadway musical" - maybe we can rename that thread SPRING AWAKENING? ;)

I'm a member of that group myself. It's a great show and the fan base is growing like rapid fire. It's fun because a lot of people who are in the show are connected to my friends in some way, shows how small and tight knit this community really is. It just makes me feel incredibly unaccomplished lol.

Any word on when the next auditions will be held CoachC?

No word yet :)

And when you say open you mean non-equity right?

typecastme, it will be an Equity call, with the usual possibility of non-Equity being seen if time permits.

Doesn't open call mean anybody can go, not just equity or non equity?

Auditions are in Chicago March 30th (tomorrow), Los Angeles on April 13th, and NYC to be announced. My daughter is non equity, but was scheduled an audition through the talent agency she's represented with. They are looking for future replacements for 11 characters.

The NYC audition is April 29th. These are all part of the Equity required ongoing regular replacement Open Calls.

The Boston date is April 21, for those who may be interested there! The audition is at Brandeis.

I'm fgoing to the Brandeis audition wooooooooooot!!!

Me Too!!!!

very cool, zoe....esp since i sort of know you now from facebook.....yay

so..anyone can audition for this?? If so, I am definitely going to the Boston one! That's awesomeeee.

yeah, its an open call...anyone can go!

any ideas for what to sing? (girl pieces, that is)

wow i saw the show last night and i wish there was an audition closer to me!!!!!!
it was SO AMAZING!

My D went to this in the Boston area. It was quite a long day with over 300 auditionees. I do believe they saw everyone, though. Anyone else go?

How did she do??? You can email me with the info if you want. It is a great show for teens!

Son auditioned in Boston this past weekend (april 21) at Brandeis. Said there were about 300 people who came out. Two of the guys in his acapella group got called back the next day (one had just completed the national tour of Rent and is very talented). Although my son didn't get a callback, he feels every one of these auditions is a positive lesson/experience and so he likes doing it. He sang a pop song (I think that is what they requested).

Hi Evasmom, I heard (unsure if correct) That this was just for future replacements, no one is currently slated to leave the show, however, they were looking for cb's for the youngest girl, and one of the guys (don't remember which one).
My D also enjoyed the experience, and used it merely as an attempt to be seen. One of her friends also knew of one or two guys called back. I didn't hear mention of any cb's for girls personally.
