Hey. A couple of friends and I are floating around the idea of heading over to cancun for spring break (yeah...very cliche and whatnot, but we all decided that we wanted to do it at least once, and most of us are international so we've already had our fair share of exotic locations). Anyone recommend (hopefully out of personal experience, or from a friend) any specific packages or travel agencies?

thanks

seriously...94 views, not a single response.,.

i don't think the majority of viewers have much collegiate spring break experience =p

i hear stuff from sta travel but i don't know if their quality is any good

personally i make (or someone makes) individualized group arrangements

Yeah, I've always planned my own trips with a friend - we kind of have fun doing it.

Try STA travel. They seem to have the biggest presence on campus, and I've seen quite a few facebook ads for them

Thanks for the answers. I've thought about planning it ourselves...but we all procrastinate/screw up too often,so I've decided the fate of our spring break might be best left to a company.

do you have to be 18+ for STA travel?

Why Cancun? Honestly I'd advise against it. If it's just fun and sun you're after, maybe, but if you plan to party spring break style, it's really not that safe. [impo] You may save money, as it is much cheaper than many locations, but ...

Oh, and despite all precautions, when I visited I got sick as a dog, threw up for 2 days while there, and had Montezuma's revenge for over a month upon my return to the States.
And a young college girl in the room below us had a frightening experience [though not uncommon]; she got too drunk and decided to take a cab alone to her hotel leaving her friends at the disco. Unfortunately, she passed out in the cab and woke up to find the cab driver riffling through her purse to rob her [not just get his fare]. She freaked out and got the police, but she ended up being the one stuck in jail for the night, until the American consulate was able to help her get out. It could have gone much worse, and she was so grateful for that. Certainly gave us pause about our vacation there.

Just my 2-cents. Be safe. It's not worth the trouble.

ps: And yes, millions of people travel to Cancun and have wonderful vacations there safely. It depends upon what type of trip you are planning. Relax, get some sun, hang with friends...it's probably a great choice. To party, might not be worth the risk. All the best....Since you're an experienced international traveler, you probably know all this anyway!!

^ Yeah, I hear you. I mean, most of us planning on going come from countries in latinamerica, so we're used to these "situations" ( as depressing as that might be). We're mainly doiong it to fulfill the whole cliche thing hahah. We have enough sun in our countries, so its mostly just about the whole stereotypical experience ( as dumb as that might sound).

cancun.. is great but i would say no. i live in arizona and rich snobby kids from cali and az go there whenever spring break hits and its def overcrowded and overrated. hello laguna beach? but if you insist, you should go :)
