does... mcgill get a spring break? how are the breaks anyway . thanks

It's called reading week, usually in February and it's only a week. Christmas Break is usually two weeks, and if you don't take summer classes - your summer break is May - August (4 months). That makes up for having shorter spring and christmas breaks.

My son is at McGill but I really don't know the answer to your question. I know that he had a Feb break wherein he visited Toronto as a guest of a dormmate's family. I just got off the phone with him
now and he is busy studying for finals. His last final is 4/26.
From our limited experience-he is USA-
It seems that McGill starts early-has few breaks but ends early in the year.
This is very helpful to my son who works all summers and so he has had the jump on summer paid internships in that he may start in May rather than June.
Hope this helps-
Good luck to you.

thanks.. i guess the i'm just going to have to take advantage of the extremely long summer.

The one drawback is that your breaks will not completely coinside with the schedule for your friends at US colleges. For example. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, not November. Other breaks are also at different times, except for the 10 days at XMas.

Yeah, Canadian Thanksgiving coincides with the American Colombus Day and there are no breaks in November, though a number of American students will skip school and go home for their Thanksgiving.
