I'm going to be a sophomore in college this fall and my friends and I are trying to plan a spring break trip. We're thinking about heading down to Cancun and I've tried researching different all-inclusive vacation packages but I've never planned a trip before so I'd really like some help.

Any suggestions? Sites I should check into? I really just don't know how to start.

The fares are rapidly increasing so I really need to get on it.

Cancun is so typical spring break-ish. Really, you can either get a travel agent or look at sites like Expedia (they had the best deal on my vacation I took).

my recommendation would be to not do a package from the "spring break" companies. You can usually get everything they offer and more for the same price. They pay more for the convenience of doing a lot of work for you. Just use standard travel sites and find airfare and hotel. For a place like cancun, you're not going to be doing much other than going to the beach and getting drunk, so it should be an easy trip to plan.

yeah i know cancun isn't the most original of places but i need it to be affordable and include lots of partying and beach time. sorry that sounds really shallow especially on a site like this....but isn't that what spring break is all about?

i generally found that expedia/orbits, basically those online companies with those package deals, to be really expensive. i think im going to panama with a couple of friends.

Nobody (reasonable) is going to call you out on wanting to drink and party over spring break, it's just that the most popular places tend to be the most expensive places. Somewhere a bit less well known could be cheaper is all we're saying.

The best part about the all-inclusive is the unlimited drinks. The bad thing is that I've heard from a lot of people that they must water them down because they aren't strong.

Just go to yahoo travel and look at the hotel ratings and all of that stuff. Then go to that hotels site and book it. Look at expedia/travelocity and find the cheap flights or good airlines and go to that site and book it.

wow..you're getting on this one early; i'm impressed
i went to myrtle beach with a bunch of girls last year and it was surprisingly inexpensive (although we're close enough that we could drive down there so we didn't need to pay airfare)..the condo we rented for like 5 days was really nice and it cost us each only like $165 or so.
we just did a lottt of research on our own (kind of last-minute, to be honest) and compared prices. we also knew we wanted to be in south myrtle because that's where the party's at :)
oh! it also helped monetarily that our spring break was so early it was actually considered the last week of the off-season. yeah, myrtle beach was basically freezing cold, but we had enough liquor to keep ourselves warm..

I never realized there were all inclusive trips just for spring break partyers, I always assumed everyone just went to cancun or someplace in Miami, and just found where everyone else is partying or something

you also get one or two options for your unlimited drinks.

There's nothing wrong with going to a stereotypically spring break place, I'm just saying that you don't need to use studentcity or STA or whatever to get there.

cancun is terrible...honestly, there are a 1000 better places to spend you spring break in. Cancun is basically a strip filled with american hotels and attractions ( I couldn't even find a single original mexican restaurant when I last visited). You can find places that are far mor interesting and at least slightly cheaper.

you also get one or two options for your unlimited drinks.
I don't know where you're going....the only thing that we couldn't get whatever of was of food items. Everyone I knew could get whatever drinks

Meh... cancun is way overhyped. Why not go to buenos aires? it has a sweet clubbing scene, and its an amazing city. Or maybe rio de janeiro? There are a ton of better places to go to
