Spring break

I see that Bama will be off for a whole week coming up for spring break. Are students required to vacate the dorms? Is the cafeteria open, or any food venue? Are the staff offices open, like student services, or is the whole university shut down? Does the bus service run?

What do kids tend to do during spring break, go home, go to the beach, do service work?

Is there a shuttle for the OOS kids to the airport, Birmingham, so they can get home if they want to go home?

Yes, the university is closed for spring break. All university offices are closed. The Ferguson Center will be closed. Crimson Ride will not operate, nor will 348-Ride (the after-hours transit service). Residence halls close, except for Rose Towers, so student who can’t go home can petition to stay on campus. Dining halls close.

University does operate an airport shuttle service. info here: [Housing & Residential Communities - The University of Alabama](http://housing.ua.edu/shuttle.cfm)

Students can do whatever they want for spring break.

Kids do a variety of things during Spring Break…sometimes with friends and sometimes with their families. One of my kids will be in Florida with friends and the other will be going to a few different places.

I know that some kids are doing Habitat for Humanity and other community service projects this next week.

I imagine that only very few kids stay on campus during Spring Break at any college. My nephew, who goes to Vandy, spent his Spring Break (this week) in California.

The dorms closed at 5 p.m. CST, which may have had some students scrambling if they had late afternoon labs or classes. I know that is the case with one of my son’s friends whose lab did not end untl 4:50 p.m. … As for plans, some kids just want to go home, sleep until noon and clean out the 'frig daily.

I’m on my way home for break (typing this on an airplane as we speak). People I know are either going home, to a beach, or a mission trip. Really, the choice is up to the student. Housing runs a shuttle for fall break, Thanksgiving, winter break, and spring break.

Wow, seatide, you’re going all the way to Washington for spring break! Good for you! Have a great time!
