Spring class enrollment

I was searching classes this morning to get the class #s and noticed that one of my classes is already showing waitlisted only.

How can that be if enrollment isn't open yet?

Will they open the class up right before enrollment or does that mean they pre-enroll students in that class or what?

Not sure, but I do know that sophomores, juniors, and seniors have all pre-enrolled already. So is it possible that the class is already filled with upperclassmen?

Hi Country:

My son is having the same problem. At least 2 of his course choices in a popular subject are already filled. Not sure why they are not accommodating needs of popular majors. Some freshman come in with a lot of APs and need to take the upper level courses which are now already filled by sophomores and juniors.

So then they have to wait until they are sophomores to get the course, like the rest of us do?

If it’s really that important for his major and to graduate on time, they will budge.

Otherwise, quit complaining. In the meantime he can take other distribution requirements that aren’t covered by APs.

Upperclassmen are given first priority because they have less time to fulfill their graduation requirements. As freshmen, filled classes may be annoying, but it’s not the end of the world. Personally, this isn’t even an issue for me; I was just trying to help the OP.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, country. I was mostly talking to neurotic cadmiumred.

Oh, I was also talking to cadmiumred! lol! And I had assumed you were, too :P

I don’t think it will be an issue. I was just surprised because it is a class my advisor told me to take so I was a little taken back to see it was already full and the waitlist was full.

I got lucky and got into all the classes I wanted. But by the time I had finished, my chem lab, and both evol. bio discussions in my time slot were filled :O

same here. The class I was worried about added additional spaces and i was able to get it as well as my bio and chem classes of choice. But now everything is full. Early bird gets the worm I guess…

its all about prioritizing which classes to sign up for first. if you know youll have a problem getting into X class because it is smaller, you fill out that registration first. then you move on to the big lectures

Unless your big lecture is gen chem. lol
