spring, fall 2012 TRANSFER STUDENTS?

Is there anybody attending IU as a TRANSFER for the spring, or fall of 2012? I'm an OOS student from Southern California, received my admissions letter (or should I say e-mail) yesterday morning. I am still waiting to hear back from a few schools but am seriously considering moving to Bloomington and attending IU, yes, without knowing anybody... scary right?

Anyone here in the same boat? Transfer students? Out of state students? People looking to make new friends...... :)

59 views and no replies… guess it’s just me that’s in this awkward situation… sweeeeeeeetttt

Haha you’re not the only one, i’m transferring from ivy tech community college - bloomington; much closer than CA lol. What’s your major?

My major is apparel merchandising with a minor in business. What about you? Are you transferring spring 2012 or in the fall?

I’m transferring next fall majoring in finance and mis.

I transferred this fall if that helps any lol
I’m from NY and I knew no one. I’ve met a couple of acquaintances so far.

really transfer0? Where are you living? how are the midwesterners lol

I can’t speak for transfer0, but personally I don’t really consider B-Town to be part of the midwest, I mean if you get out of Bloomington anywhere just 15-20 miles you will really then feel the difference between the place and people. I mean common, the campus was named top GLBT-friendly campus a couple of weeks ago; [IU named GLBT-friendly campus | Campus | Indiana Daily Student](http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=82566&search=glbt&section=search)

That may be true, although if you think about somebody who has lived in San Diego their whole life, I’m pretty sure any part of Indiana is going to be a bit of a culture shock… Don’t you think? I, myself have never even been to the midwest.

I transferred in for this fall, 2011, and it’s been a great experience. Althogh, and I’ll be honest, It’s been hard to make friends since most people have their group from Freshman year (I’m a Junior.) I strongly suggest coming here though. It’s been wonderful for me and you’ll have a friend in me if you decide to :)

eLynn, that is so sweet of you… where did you transfer from and what is your major? Even though it is hard to make friends, are the people nice atleast? I deferred my acceptance for a semester because I am waiting to hear back from my number 1 school in California… If I end up going in the fall I will definitely let you know… are you living on campus?

im thinking of heading there for spring 2012 from Massachusetts for economics. still trying to make a final decision. i’ll know nobody going in but thats some of the appeal i guess

I’m thinking about coming for Fall 2012 as a junior from a small school in Cleveland, OH. My dad went there so I’ve grown up around it, and I know a few kids there, but not many. Still kind of on the fence about it, but its hard to beat B-town as the ideal college town, and the Business school is fantastic. Just don’t really know what to do.

I transferred from Michigan State. I have made friends, for sure, it’s just harder because a lot of people have already found their group. I do live in the dorms. I wasn’t comfortable finding a roommate online and I figured it’d be easier to meet people this way. I’m a Secondary Special Education major.

eLynn, I am wondering if you would share why you transfered from MSU and what year you are. My daughter, also a special ed major, is trying to choose between MSU and IU for next year. She will be a freshman.

@gabriellerhall sorry for taking so long to respond. The midwesteners are nice imo. Much friendlier than people in the big apple. There is actually a decent ny/nj/ct presence here but I feel like they are easy to pick out because the people out here are so well mannered and polite lol. No offense lol. I live in the Union Street Apartments. Very very nice although my building is somewhat quiet and anti-social. There really isn’t any mingling amongst suites in my building. Hope this helps!

what college gpa’s did you guys have when transferring to IU. what is the minimum they will accept?

They look for a 2.75

What are your chances of transferring in with a 2.75 GPA from Ivy Tech. Anyone know why on the website of IU’s they stated that they are no longer accepting transfer applications?

I think it states that they are no longer accepting applications for the spring term because they will not have enough time to review the application. They do accept for the summer and fall of 12’.
