Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@sunshine97 I didn’t have thirty hours either. I had 28. I guess I’ll have to wait until december after I have my fall grades.

Okay I’m not alone but january is so late,I applied to CNS and i’m actually really worried that I won’t get in because my biology class and UT’s course equivalency. And @btsororos since you’re taking calc now they still may consider you,as long as you put that you’re taking it currently taking it on your applytexas application.

Has anyone gotten their decision yet?

Not yet, still says ‘Complete/On Time’ and ‘In Review’ at the top. Hopefully decisions start going out sometime this week. They should hurry it up because I wanna know if I need to enroll for spring at ACC yet lol @janeeyreisbae

Has anyone had an experience sending in the fall grades? It won’t get my application reviewed until i get all of my final grades done.

I expect a slight uptick in GPA, maybe as much as .1

Anyone know how long it takes for them to review it once i upload the updated transcript?

I’ll probably be updating my transcript mid-december

@temoc22 I’ve been emailing someone that has to do with transfer admissions, and she said they’ll mostly likely receive our transcripts right before christmas break and since UT admissions is closed during christmas break, they won’t review our applications until the second week of January, and that’s when we will also get our decisions that week. Which is really inconvenient because school starts the third week of January.

Hey I’m a sophomore at the University of Miami, from Oklahoma, but I qualify as a Texas resident
I want to transfer into COLA for Government or Economics
GPA: 3.2 (I had a terrible first semester of freshman year, got a 2.5, but got a 3.5 next semester and will probably get a 3.6 this semester)
Jobs/Internships: Internship with an economic, political and demographic research think thank, 12 hours a week. I’ve also worked at my schools Student Activity Center for over a year. I’ve also secured an internship with a local South Florida congresswoman next semester
Extracurriculars: Canes For Bernie, Economics Club, United Black Students, UDebate

Do you guys think I have a change of acceptance?

@Southend96 I think you have a shot but keep in mind that Government and Economics are pretty big departments in COLA and tend to be over saturated. However, if there aren’t that many people applying to Economics or Government in your transfer round you might have a shot. GPA is a big deal but with your jobs and ECs it could help off set that. My GPA is low too and I’m applying to COLA for their French or International Relations depts so I’m hoping their holistic review process could help us both. Good luck!

I have some information that most of you will find useful. The scholarship application for next fall is now open; click this link http://texasscholarships.org/apply/continuing/CSA_admit.html.

Once you put your UT EID in, you can see the results of your transfer credit evaluation by looking in the Biographical Information section of the application. For me, several of my credits didn’t transfer but my transfer GPA is higher than expected as a result.

Let’s talk with each other about our updated stats; I hope this information is helpful to all of you.

@johnnylawson I just clicked on your link and saw that it had my GPA and hrs accepted. Is this just a glitch that we have somehow circumvented or if your information is posted is this a likely sign you have been accepted and just not notified yet?

I am thinking this might be bringing my hopes up to think there is something there to find out next week I have been rejected. lol. I am not confident in my stats for my GPA is on the low side due to a F I had to eat in my past. I retook that class recently at my current Alamo College here in San Antonio and received an A.

I have been attending SPC since Jan in which I have completed 7 classes with a 4.0.

I applied for transfer with an accepted 55 hrs and a 3.27 transfer GPA. for COLA w/ Major in Government.

I am a Veteran who has served for 11 plus years in the Army with a combat deployment to AFG and IRQ once each.

I spent 3 months over the spring and summer working on my essays in which I had multiple people of decent to high mastering of the English language editing them. I kept being told that they are both done really well but who knows with that stuff. It depends on who reads it at UT. Only that persons opinion counts.

I have 3 letters of Recommendation. 1 from me Fed Govt Prof at St Phillips College and 2 from former supervisors who wrote glowingly about me and my past performances abroad.

My resume lays out my last 10 years of Military experience along with my current volunteering stats w/ Texas Organizing Project and The Mission Continues Org.

I also was accepted into the 2105Texas Future Leadership Program w/ Battleground Texas this summer along with working with the Office of St Rep Diego Bernal, HD 123 as in Intern this fall.

I know the holistic review is what I need to get me over since my GPA of 3.27 is really on the low side considering the transfer average of 3.6. I am just hoping all my other stats push me over. Good Luck to Everyone!

@johnnylawson
Seconding @DM1515. My GPA and transfer credit hours are up there (and it’s different from the number of credit hours I’ve completed at my current school, implying they’ve already decided which of my classes will transfer). Does anyone not have that information posted?

@ivanovich @DM1515 I checked mine and it has all of my information on there as well. I am really hoping this is a good sign.

The link I posted will probably have everyone’s transfer hours and GPA posted, but it should not be taken as a signal that you will be admitted. We should instead use it as a tool to assess how UT is looking at our numbers.

Our GPA can be higher or lower than we thought it would be, or we may or may not have 30 hours because some of the credits didn’t transfer. Having this information will let us put together plans to look at our other school choices if need be since UT’s admission process takes so long. Alternatively, maybe some of us will be put at ease because our numbers ended up being stronger than we thought they would be.

For the spring of 2015 thread, people started to get accepted on November 20th. Hopefully we will get our admission decisions soon!

@longhornlegacy thanks so much! Good luck to you too, really hope a holistic view helps us out

@longhornlegacy I’m international relations for my first choice, and studying French as my foreign language too!! @longhorntobe Thanks for that info. The 20th is so soon!! Where did the rumor that a batch of decisions gets released Nov 15th at 8pm come from?

@janeeyreisbae I think since we are told that admission decisions are released mid-November, people ran with that and starting saying November 15th would be the day.

Last year, I think that the first person to find out was an international transfer. IIRC, he was accepted on either the 9th or 15th of November.

@sunshine97 man that stinks! I have a feeling the months of december and january will be laced with a lot of anxiety for me lol
