@mccombsorbust yessir I’m trying for the spring! Thanks for the feedback. You’re applying next fall right?
really hope you get in!! I think you have a good shot @longhorntobe yep! That’s when I’ll have my 30 hrs complete, same majors as you.
Hey, everyone. Applied last week to COLA (English). Transfering from out of state with a GPA of 3.92, decent essays, and one great recommendation from a professor. Only have a few extracurriculars, but I’ve also been employed on-and-off. I’m not exactly a shoe-in, but I’m hopeful.
Has anyone’s MyStatus page changed to “in review” yet?
I also applied for spring 2016 couple month before. I am from university of houston. My gpa 3.867 with 45 credit hours. I am applying for cs for my first choice , and CNS undelare as the second. All my math and science class are aces. What is my chance and when would I receive decision?
@leonXiao
I think your chances are decent. I’m not a science major, but from stalking these threads I know that your chances of getting into CNS improve greatly if you’ve completed major-related prerequisites. That’s a big deciding factor between similar candidates. It sounds like you’ve got a good amount of relevant course-work, so you should be fine.
As for when you’ll get your decision… If previous threads are any indication, it could basically be from the 15th of this month until around Christmas. Unfortunately, it seems like CNS decisions usually come later, after the first wave of COLA decisions. Most people hear back by late November, though.
I am enrolled at a four year university and was wondering if it would be easier to transfer to McCombs or to COLA (for economics) I’m currently in Business Undecided and am taking Macroeconomics, Calc, Gov, Comp 1, and Communication. I had a 3.95 in high school (don’t know if that matters) and was averagely involved but didn’t get into UT. I am averagely involved at this university and am on track to make all A’s in my classes. Just wanting to know which college i should applied to based off of my credits and which one i would have the best chance at getting into
COLA Economics would definitely be easier to transfer to. First, McCombs requires that you have all of your indicator courses including micro and macro economics, and calc 1+2. While having those courses will help you for economics, they are not required. If want to go to McCombs, note that they only accept applications in the fall. I would recommend that you put McCombs as your first choice, and COLA economics as your second choice. Keep in mind that GPA and essays are usually the most important determinants. If you have any more questions, feel free to message me.
Status changed from complete to “in review” today.
@ivanovich My status changed to “in review” today as well!
@longhorntobe Has yours changed yet?
Mine still says “complete.” What majors did you guys apply for?
Mine says in review at the top. I applied for cola undeclared because I honestly don’t know what my major should be.
Mine says “in review” in bold at the top, but “complete/on time” on the side tab. Hmmm…
I hadn’t noticed the top! It says in review but on the side it still says “complete.”
Do they released decisions as they make them or do they wait until they have everybody’s decision ?
@amberlee9
They release them gradually, but decisions often come in chunks. Decisions from COLA tend to come out earliest, though.
Awesome to see another thread by UT Transfers. Keep up the good work it’ll be worth it!
@leonXiao CS is very competitive regardless if you’re internal or external. They usually cut down the amount of people they take in every year. That being said I think you have a decent chance for CS. However, CNS is going to be an easy shot in.
Just so everyone can get the best look it would be awesome if everyone stated all of their stats. Post your stats and help others who wish to attend UT Austin!
•College transferring from
•current/expected GPA
•College applied for.
•1st and 2nd choice majors
•quality of essays
•# of letters of rec and who wrote them
•list of volunteer/extracurricular activities
I was a transfer in the fall of 2015 so I am relatively familiar with the process. I know it’s super stressful and UT admissions is basically very ambiguous 90% of the time. So just hang in there!
Thanks everyone!
-Transferring from Tarrant County College (community college)
-4.0 GPA
-Applied for COLA
-First choice is Pyschology (COLA), second choice nueroscience (CNS)
-I’m pretty proud of my essays, but who isn’t? I got maybe 10 people to read and revise them before submitting so I’m confident in them.
-2 letters of rec-- one from a former math professor, the other from my employer.
-Dean’s List, Phi Theta Kappa, and a little volunteering at the local animal shelter.
@shelbyy611 Those stats are stellar. See you in the spring!
