any spring admits facing similar problem?

Hmm.. I think that only applies to transfers. I'm a freshman spring admit and I only got the email saying that they are reviewing. That completely sucks though. :/

Housing is really, really limited right now. With the start of the sophomore guarantee and a larger than expected class, they are desperately trying to find spots for people. The admissions people estimated a much smaller number of spring admits/transfers than actually occurred, so now housing is scrambling to try to find spaces.

i know. i guess they underestimated people who are actually attending. im a transfer and i know lots of people in facebook ****ed off about this. hope we can find housing around the area. do you guys know anything about conquest housing?

This is one of the reasons why the university housing is a rip-off.

try to snag some housing by people leaving abroad. I know there's not a huge amount, but I've read some ad's somewhere.

Here the link from the study abroad site. They may be filled up already, there's only a few, but it's worth a try

I'm in the same boat--it looks like I won't be able to attend USC since they have no housing available.

But then again, that's always my luck. Hope things work out for the rest of you :).

There are plenty of other ways to get housing. Don't give up yet!

i was a spring admit last year and even then they barely had housing. if housing is "under review" now it is likely some won't make it into USC housing unless a large number of students go on study abroad. I would recommend then to look into other nearby options for housing, or find a friend who already lives at USC and has an open space in their room, and try to get them as a roommate.

kkgirl, did you get housing?

i found someone who wants to move out in the spring and is looking for someone to takeover her contract. so for the mean time, i do have housing.

i hope people get housing.

i did get housing when i started in the spring--but i wasn't put in the dorms, i was put in a university housing-owned apartment off campus. that's where many people were put actually.

that's cool you know someone moving out--make sure all the logistics work so you can get their space. as for the rest of the spring admits, pull any strings you can with people you already know at USC to get housing...

i hope you guys can all find housing because usc is an awesome time

honestly, i think you're lucky. i wish i didn't have to live in university housing. it SUCKS and is wayyyyy wayyyyy expensive.

i just lost the spot i got in the dorms. i have to be there in december so she can transfer the lease to me. but its so expensive travelling back in forth. so as of now, no housing for me still.

socks, usc housing is really bad? i wish i could live there just for the first year or the first semester even. internationals tend to get lost. hahaha!

is it really hard to find a place to rent around the area in january? or do i really have to haul myself in december over there to get a place?

I LOVE usc housing. Then again, it all differs. I live in the brand new Arts & Humanities building (literally, we are the first people living there) and it's really nice. Air conditioning/heater (this is the BIGGEST disparity betwen most dorms- most dont have ac) big bathroom for every 4 people, brand new everything.

I must agree that it is way expensive. But I think it's worth it. I have woken up 5 minutes before class and gotten there on time. It really makes going to class/around campus SO MUCH easier.

i have no experience with usc housing, i was just saying that i hope spring admits find housing, anywhere. also, i live two blocks north of jefferson, and i can get to any one of my classes via bike or skateboard in 3 minutes. but its probably nice to not have to rush/work up a sweat skating

I would explore other options and check out craigs list and facebook market place. Theres always people trying to make other people take their leases. Living off campus doesn't seem to be that bad, just live in a nearby block or so

yea I got an email saying that they are reviewing applications and will be assigning housing during Nov-Dec..so i'm still in contention i guess..from what i'm hearing on facebook mostly transfers were denied housing...but if i don't get housing i'm definitely looking for an apartment near campus..the prices are actually cheaper if u live off campus.. so definitely check out craigs list or facebook..or the USC campus for flyers for roomates
