Is it really bad to come to the US in Spring?
I already read some blogs about that, but I need your opinions here, and I want some advice about my case.
So, I’m from Southeast Asia, currently still working in my country, as a junior engineer in an oil & gas company. I’ve been working for 2 years now. I got my bachelor degree in 2013, and I think this is the right time to go back to school, for master degree.
I want to get a master in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, in US. And I want to apply as soon as possible, which is Spring 2016, right? But I know there’s a lot of disadvantages for the Spring Intake. But… then I think I don’t wanna wait another 8 months for the Fall Intake, Fall 2016… So what do you think?
There’s another thing. I’m not from engineering background. I graduated in Chemistry. Yeah, Chemistry Science. But in my current job, I work as a Jr. Engineer, for 2 years. So I studied about engineering alone, from the my experience at work, from the seniors here, and some trainings of course. It was really hard at first. But then I keep learning and learning… and I don’t know, I just enjoy it. I love being an engineer. And that’s why I want to get a master in engineering.
Do you think I will need another additional semester (1 semester) in graduate program, since I didn’t get my bachelor degree in engineering?
I think if I applied for the Fall Semester, Fall 2016, I will need 5 semesters, instead of 4, and I’ll be graduated in Fall 2018, right?
But if I applied for the Spring Semester, Spring 2016, I’ll have the additional semester in Spring 2016, so I’ll begin the graduate program in Fall 2016, and be graduated in Spring 2018, just like the other students for Fall Intake.
Please give me some advice.
