My s played "Chris" in Miss Saigon 2 summers ago at SDM. Is this a school edition? The performance my son was in was put on by MTI and it was put on as the first step in making a school edition. I was just curious because if it is s name will be in the script as "first to perform". We have been curious as to how far the edition has come. If was a great show. S worked with Richard Maltby and other Broadway pros on the show., which was very exciting. Congrats to your D and tell her to break a leg. Sun and Moon was my favorite scene along with "Why God Why"!

S is in "Footlose" playing "Ren". And also a straight comedy from the Comedia Del Arte era. As been said on this thread it is bitter sweet. Tears for what is ending and Tears for the excitement of what is about to begin!!!

mtboymom- my friend was in miss saigon with your son (I'm assuming it's the same production), I think she might have been Gigi. Blonde girl who had also played Johanna in Sweeney Todd at some point.

mtboymom, your S was great in Miss Saigon. My D was in a different production that session but I was able to see Miss S, as one was A, the other B. Is your S going back to SDM this summer for his last hurrah?

Yes, he is going back. In fact now that auditions and acceptances are winding down that is all is is thinking about! Is your d going back? S will be there first session.

mtboymom, yes, 1st and 2nd. And she's already counting the days. She said to say hi to your S.

babygiraffe,

The girl that played Gigi was a brunette. There was a blonde in the production but she was younger and Sweeney was a few years before Saigon. Does her name start with an A?

Brownsugar,

He said "hi" back. He would love to stay 2 sessions but he has orientation for college during July. :(

mtboymom,

They are doing the full production. I'm not sure why. D's director is always quite ambitious. Last year they did Tommy and the year before Les Mis. They do an amazing job. D's been VERY fortunate to have these incredible experiences (She was Mrs. Walker last year) and we are very grateful. The school/town really supports the arts. The budget for this play is over $45,000! They hire a sound & lighting designer, a professional set designer and the costumes/makeup are always fabulous. The school has an absolutely stellar ochestra who will be in the pit. The auditiorium seats 850+ and the musicals always sell out. Even so, D does not have schools calling to accept her and it's frustrating. Her list was probably too ambitious, but it's not over until it's over and she may end up at her one of her top choices yet. Good luck to all of you hs seniors enjoying your last hs performance!
