Spring Open Campus and ALANA Program

I’m coming with my dad bust that is because A) I got the travel grant and B) my dad wants to see the school that I might be attending since I am from Texas at Wellesley is very far away

The trave grant must be random because my family is a pretty average middle class family so it is definitley not based completley on income

I don’t think the SOC travel grant is random. I think it’s meant as an incentive to get certain applicants to come to the school and, hopefully, enroll. ED students are already “in the bag,” so they don’t need enticing. Students from underrepresented geographical areas or who possess interesting talents, backgrounds or socioeconomic and ethnic diversity are, I would wager, being “courted.” If you got a travel grant, I think you should feel special and valued. If you didn’t, don’t take it personally. Admissions offices strive to put together the most interesting, diverse student body possible, and they use every tool at their disposal to do so: colorful advertising, free visits, handwritten notes, even flattery.

Hi, I’m new to CC but I was admitted into Wellesley and I was wondering if anyone could help me with something :)

I’m from IL and I would like to go to spring campus, but I am confused about when my parent should be with me. I’m guessing my mom needs to go to a hotel for overnight, but besides then, is she supposed to be with me?

Oh and also, what time should I arrive on the 21st if I don’t go to ALANA?

Thanks to everyone who responded! My mom will probably only be able to make it to one of the open house days–I just wanted to make sure I’m not the only one who may be parentless for the rest of the open house.

I can’t wait to see Wellesley in person for the first time!

My d went to spring open campus alone last year and had wonderful time. She is a 1st year student @ Wellesley now.

what time does everyone leave on the last day?

I’m going to the SOC and am so excited!!! This next part is kind of off topic… why is the Official Wellesley Classs of 2015 page on Facebook so dead???

Dead??? Are you sure you’re not on the Wellesley High School Class of 2015 webpage? The Wellesley College page is “jumpin’.” Or maybe you’re on the “official” college class of 2015 page…

If I were you, I’d keep looking around Facebook till you find the right one. There are something like 135 people on there.

Ayaya23,

you might be on the “Official Wellesley Class of 2015” page haha we created that but found it was only a “like” page, so we made a group instead. It’s called “Wellesley Class of 2015!” with the exclamation point  See you there!

Spoke with the travel agent on Friday and he said about 6 or 7 people were coming from Los Angeles. I do know that travel invitation is not based upon income. My daughter is going to attend but she will be coming from NYC and returning to LA.

My daughter is attending both ALANA and SOC at Wellesley and she got the travel paid for. We live in Southern California. We are not able to travel with her, however from what I have seen from the itinerary, she will be very busy. She was regular decision.
