it should work....my fall 2008 schedule that im taking right now works but when i put the classes in to see if it would at least generate on for it, it still didnt work...at any rate my classes for the spring are:

4896 valid schedules generated
Out of 91908 potential schedules, 87012 were rejected because of time or availability conflicts.

Works when I put the combo in. Remove all classes and then re-add. Make sure you select all sections and then remove duplicate sections. Also when they are multiple sections offered in the same time slot, only select one so that ESC has less permutations and you number of schedule is reduced. For example for my schedule, it was giving me 3 (yes three permutations), but all were identical because the only difference was the room my chem lab will be in.

After removing duplicates, it said

756 valid schedules generated
Out of 14904 potential schedules, 14148 were rejected because of time or availability conflicts.

I'm hoping I can get some advice? It has to do with spring schedules so I thought it would ok for this thread.

So this semester, I'm taking chem 1a, german r5a, and math 16a, and a freshman seminar. That makes it 13 units. I am finding it to be doable.

Next semester, I was thinking of taking Bio 1b, math 16b, chem 3a, and psych 2 or socio 3ac or a decal.

So my situation could jump from 13 units to 17 units. I don't think that I am adequately prepared for that. Would that schedule be too difficult?

Right now, I think the only reason I'm doing well in my classes is because it's like review. With those spring classes, almost everything will be new. Would this be a good idea?

The only time one should do <15 units generally is at the very end, nearing graduation. They advise you to take 13 units your first semester for (IMO) idiotic (and condescending) reasons, they don't want you to take 13 units any other semester, because they want you to graduate on time and get the **** out and because 13 units is too weak a load.

16 is a pretty average load of classes. 4 x 4 units. Not bad at all, just be prepared for the additional work as compared to your 3 x 4 schedule. Yes, more units equals more work. It need not be unmanageable.

However, DO be careful about overloading on math/science if you find yourself spending inordinate amounts of time on the homework/studying for any of them.

Also, it's worth keeping in mind that academic units at Berkeley are measures of credit, not of hours spent in and out of class. A 4-unit Physics class might demand 7 hours per week (plus homework) whereas a History lecture might only demand 3 (plus reading, homework). So unit-load isn't always a good indicator of how difficult / time-consuming your day will be.

Leftist, I think you need to let your little crusade against the 13-unit load for incoming freshmen go. I mean, honestly, who cares?

QFT. Whatever nonsense you hear about 1 unit = X hours of homework per night is to be discarded. Every class is different. Even the same class as taught by different professors -- or the same class by the same professor at a different time.

Generally speaking, 2 of any one type of class is enough, and if you have a third you better hope it's an "easy" one. This goes for classes heavy on reading, or writing, or science, or math... try not to take more than 2 classes of a particular "type." You'll stay saner.

thank you muchly.
by the way, around when should we expect to get an email about our tele-bears appointments for the spring? or at least, when will it show up on bearfacts? (furthermore, isn't there some sort of faculty adviser meeting we're supposed to have before the telebears session?)

Math 53 or Econ 1 (Depending on which is available; if both, I'm inclined towards taking Math53) [4 units]
Breadth course [probably 4 units]

total will most likely be 17 units. ill be majoring in Econ w/ the goal of going premed, so it doesn't seem that bad considering that fact.

is the telebear-ing priority correct? 53 seems to have a whole lot of room, and considering its the offseason for it, there should be even less people enrolling...

also, im trying to see if i can use my CC credits i received during high school to skip math 1b and its nasty curve and go directly into 53. Is that a good idea? my roommate who is taking 53 right now says it will be fine b/c you dont need anything that carries over form 1b as long as you know the basic integration techniques of 1a (currently enrolled).

finally, how hard is stats 21? ive heard its competitive w/ all the prebizz kids, but my other roommate claims its pretty straightforwards...

Damn Aman's scheduler is down, and it doesn't look like anyone will fix it.
All other similar programs suck to the point that I'd rather do it manually.
