I don’t think going to accepted students day has a bearing on getting bumped at all. We went to the Boston accepted student event and talked with my D’s admissions officer; I had the impression that quite a few students would be bumped that year and they were. But that was USC’s first year on the common app and it seems like they overestimated the yield. If I recall it was early May when we heard.
@BillPayingDad Go to the USC website Spring Admit page and it gives you the information. I believe their will be a link to Richmond the American University in London. You can download their application and fill it up. My impression was since your child is already an admitted USC student there’s no problem getting in. It’s all based on space availability. Their is an admissions person in the US you can contact for questions. They are very helpful and USC has already negotiated classes that will automatically transfer. I cannot stress what a great experience this was for my child.
@beverlyg Thanks for the info about your son going to Richmond in London for his first semester. I just paid my deposit and housing fee to also study there in August but need to fill out the housing forms and pick where to live. The Main Campus sounds like a typical dorm experience - did your son stay there or in a different place, and would you have any better suggestions?
IMO President Nikias should resign and move on. His establishment of the Spring admit program is a shameful effort to boost USC’s admit rate at the expense of ruining the freshman experience.
If I were a spring admit I’d bug the crap out of the admissions office to get a fall slot. Don’t listen to those who say that tactic is futile.
STOP SPRING ADMISSIONS!
@SeattleTW Nikias didn’t establish the spring admission program. Sample started it, long before Nikias was even president or provost.
Begging to be taken off the waiting list doesn’t work at other colleges, so why would it work at USC?
The more kids complain, the better the chances USC will end that misguided program.
@SeattleTW I tried emailing a bunch of people and nobody really replied or explained how you become a spring admit (my GPA was 3.9, so I was only going to help their average admitted GPA). If anything, they told me to talk to somebody else. When I sent a letter to the prez and the Dean of Dornsife, the only response I got back was to email my advisor. I guess I wasn’t annoying enough, but I sure as heck tried
Keep trying.
Bumping this thread for the 2021 Spring admits.
Hello! 2021 spring admit here. Thanks for bumping this thread, @GamerGal27 ! Do you happen to know if spring admits need to fill out a housing application at the same time as fall admits?
Wow. I’m unobservant. For future reference: for spring 2018 admits, housing applications will not be available until June 30, 2018.
i meant 2017. june 30, 2017. i’m way too out of it haha
