Spring Semester... And wait listed?

I got in for the 2010 spring semester, but it also said " In addition, you have been given a place on our waitlist for the fall semester."

I never knew college park had a wait list? Anyone know what the chances of me being accepted into the fall semester is? I plan on hand writing a letter to the admission office, stating that if I were to be accepted for the Fall, I would indefinitely enroll.

Any help or considerations would be great

Thanks!

Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. While we cannot offer you admission for the fall semester, we are impressed with all you have accomplished and we are pleased to offer you admission for the Spring 2010 semester which begins in January. In addition, you have been given a place on our waitlist for the fall semester. You can look forward to receiving an official decision letter which will contain detailed information about your admission and the variety of options available to you prior to your spring enrollment at the University of Maryland.

this was my girlfriends letter. so congrats on the waitlist. i didnt know they had a waitlist either.

My daughter received the exact same letter- spring admission and waitlist.

Same for my D - I spoke with someone at UMD about Freshman Connections - if you can find your own housing which is not that hard, you can start in the fall, but the classes you can take are 3-9 M-Th and 9-4 on Fridays (less popular times). But you'd be able to participate in campus life. I think D is going to go to a SUNY (we're in NY) but in a better economy I would definitely have encouraged her to go for the spring admit!

They did not do waitlist last yr only freshman first. I believe they stated last yr was the last yr that they would have the apts right outside the main campus. DS knows several kids in the program, and they are all have now moved into the dorms for spring

did you check your decision on line? I have not received my letter yet. Did the on line site say that you were wait listed and accepted for the fall 2010 as your letter did?

bunnybob

My daughter checked her decision online on Saturday morning. She has yet to receive any notification via snail mail or email.

She is hoping to get off the waitlist and get fall admission. My husband and I are hoping for a miracle so that we can pay for it....

is there anyway we could ask the admissions to re-review our application? a friend of mine i know got accepted but her statistics are basically same as mine plus i have few more leadership positions than her. if i got admitted to spring semester does this guranteed me a spot for spring?
